And welcome.
To this gratitude.
Meditation.
I'm Charlotte.
A meditation teacher accredited by the British School of Meditation with a particular focus upon supporting people.
Through grief.
The focus upon the cultivation of gratitude.
In this meditation.
May support.
With feeling more connected.
To the self.
Or perhaps to the world around us.
From my heart.
I offer you.
This meditation.
It may feel common.
To experience despair,
Anger or sadness during grief.
And these feelings may arise at any point.
In this practice,
The intention is to express gratitude for that which we are aware of in our lives.
This may help to focus on that which exists,
Which may support with feelings in response to loss.
As we may gain a more balanced perspective.
There isn't any particular way to feel.
This practice.
Is unique.
It may feel as though there is not yet an awareness of that which you might feel grateful for,
Or you may find that there is lots which you express gratitude for.
Remember,
This is just the first step in learning something new.
You may experience your mind wandering.
During this meditation.
If it does.
Just be aware.
And no There is the option.
To return to the breath.
At any point.
You may want to feel yourself settling into your chair.
Or the floor.
Perhaps you allow the chair or the floor to support you.
Perhaps you notice the ground beneath you.
You may want to close your eyes or fix your gaze.
Upon a point.
In front of you.
If this feels comfortable for you.
You may want to focus on the rhythm of your breath again if this feels comfortable for you.
Perhaps you start to feel aware of yourself,
Breathing in and breathing out.
You can breathe in your own way.
Perhaps you feel your breath moving through your body.
You might want to label your breath.
You could say to yourself in your mind.
I am breathing it.
And breathing out.
In your own time.
If you wish.
We begin.
This meditation.
With an expression of gratitude.
Perhaps.
.
.
You express gratitude.
For the chair.
Or the floor beneath you.
You may want to say in your mind.
May I feel grateful for the chair supporting me right now.
If at any point.
You are finding the meditation challenging.
Remember that there is the option to return to the breath.
You may want to focus upon the word gratitude.
Rather than trying to think.
Of anything.
To express gratitude for.
Just allow yourself to experience this meditation.
In your own time.
And in your own way.
With the knowledge.
That you are supported.
Next,
You may want to express gratitude for the world around you.
Perhaps you feel grateful for a particular season.
Or perhaps you appreciate.
Watching or listening to rain.
Or maybe.
.
.
You like being outside in sunshine.
You may want to say in your mind.
May I feel grateful for nature.
Now you may wish to express gratitude towards yourself.
Perhaps you feel grateful to yourself for practicing this meditation today.
Perhaps you wish to express gratitude for a quality which you recognize in yourself.
Such as compassion.
Or kindness.
You may want to say in your mind.
May I feel grateful for this time to meditate today.
Maybe you continue to focus.
Upon the word gratitude.
Continuing to breathe.
In your own way.
Maybe you felt a moment of gratitude.
With a connection to yourself.
Or to the world around you today.
Well,
Perhaps there were many moments.
Remember,
This is just the beginning of something new.
Return to focusing upon your breath.
In your own way.
And at your own pace.
Now slowly bring an awareness back to the feeling of your body upon the floor.
Or the chair beneath you.
Very slowly you may want to flutter your eyes open or bring them back from a fixed point.
Thank you for sharing in this practice today.
