Hello,
And thank you for showing up.
These affirmations are to help keep you centered when you might be faced with some challenging dynamics.
Maybe you're heading into a family gathering with clashing personalities,
Or have to attend a meeting with that explosive coworker.
You may be aware there's a potential for drama,
Or repeating toxic patterns,
And you'd like to make sure you're not feeding into it,
Or allowing it to suck you in.
You just want to protect your peace.
This is your reminder that we can't know how things will unfold,
And we can't control what other people do.
The only thing we can control is how we respond.
Let's take a moment to arrive right here,
Right now.
Gently stretch your neck side to side,
Forward,
Back.
Breathe your shoulders in and up towards your ears,
Then roll them backwards,
Releasing them down with your exhale.
Roll into a comfortable position,
Either sitting up straight,
Lying down,
Or even walking.
Trust whatever feels right for you in this moment.
Tuck your chin slightly to align your spine,
And allow your eyelids to feel heavy and close.
Now we'll start some box breaths.
Breathe in for a count of four,
Pause for four,
Breathe out for four,
Then pause for four again.
Do at least three rounds at your own pace.
Be gentle during the pauses,
Holding the breath lightly,
Without clenching anything.
Good.
Now feel your breath return to a natural rhythm,
And repeat after me,
Either out loud or in your head.
I don't know how this will play out,
But I'm curious to find out.
I trust that everything is working out,
Whether it seems that way or not.
The story I'm telling myself right now may or may not be true.
It is impossible for me to know everything that is at play.
I am curious about perspectives that differ from mine.
Even if what I think will happen actually does,
I can choose how to respond.
How someone reacts is a reflection of them,
Not of me.
What anyone thinks of me is none of my business.
I embrace uncertainty.
I can sit with discomfort,
Knowing that there's a lesson to be learned.
I choose to bring love,
Compassion,
And curiosity to every situation.
Take another few deep breaths.
Feel the energy of these words move through your body.
Come back to these affirmations as many times as you need,
And if you do find yourself getting swept up in the intense or anxious energy of others,
Try to step away and do a few rounds of box breathing.
In for four,
Hold for four,
Out for four,
Hold for four.
Doing this for a minute or two will help you reset and find your center again.
Sending you love and wishing you sparks of joy.
Take care.
