You approach the historic St. Louis Cathedral, The oldest continuously active Roman Catholic Cathedral in the United States and the spiritual center of New Orleans. As you enter the Cathedral the cool hushed atmosphere envelops you providing a welcome respite from the bustling streets outside. The intricate stained glass windows and high vaulted ceilings take your breath away. The church is filled with beautiful works of art including ornate murals and sculptures. The most striking feature is the stunning altar adorned with elaborate gold leaf detailing and a larger-than-life crucifix.
