Zen Buddhist Han / Moppan Played In Japanese Zen Monastery
by Tom van Dijk
Zen Buddhist Han or Moppan, a wooden striking board or wooden gong that is used traditionally to prelude and end the day. A speed-up rhythm combined with a 7-5 and 3 hits is the style in which the Han is usually played. I recorded this in 2014 during my stay at SogenJi temple Okayama, Japan.
