Reki Dai Soshi Eko Dedication Chant | Zen Buddhism
by Tom van Dijk
Reki Dai Soshi Eko is a dedication text chanted solely by the chant leader (ino / inosu) in Japanese Zen monasteries during chant services (choka). The Reki Dai Soshi Eko follows the recitation of the Dai Hi Shu (Sutra of great compassion) and dedicates the sutra chanting to Zen Ancestors and / important Zen masters of the past, like Rinzai Gigen and Kanzan Egen.
