Great Compassion Mantra Polyphonic | Daishishin Dharani
by Tom van Dijk
The Dai hi shin Dharani is the mantra of great compassion. The mantra is part of the daily sutra chanting in Japanese Zen monasteries and is often chanted as a memorial sutra for the departed. Originally a devotional sutra to the Lord of Death (Shiva), this Dharani is believed to be protective and generate merit, especially for those who passed away. The exact meaning of the text remains unclear until today, although several theories go round. Please Enjoy listening or practicing chanting along.
