Hiradaya is a form of meditation that is focusing on the heart space,
Bringing awareness to the spiritual heart and the body and just noticing the pause between the inhale and the exhale of the breath.
Your heart has a memory and it's constantly sending messages to the brain.
The heart knows when you meet someone and if you sit with it and you listen to your core and your intuition,
You never know what you might find there.
So for this meditation,
I'd like you to just find somewhere where you can have a comfortable seated position,
Or if you'd like to lie down,
That's perfectly fine as well.
Once you're in a comfortable position,
I'd like you to gently close down the eyes and bring your awareness to the center of your chest.
And then I want you to bring the awareness just a couple inches over to the right.
We all know that the heart lives a little bit towards the left of the center,
But our spiritual heart lives a little bit towards the right of the center and just focus on that area.
And if you'd like,
You can focus on maybe a light being there,
Whatever color comes to you.
It can be white.
And just focusing on that heart space.
And maybe you feel something there,
Maybe you feel a pain or you feel something and just notice that sensation,
Or maybe you don't feel anything at all and that's okay too.
The more that we find an area of focus,
The more we center into ourselves and it can help keeping our brain from getting too distracted.
But if you do,
I'll gently remind you to just come back to focusing on the heart space just to the right.
And just begin breathing,
Inhaling and exhaling through the nose,
Just naturally.
Noticing the rise and fall,
The pauses in between the inhale and the exhale.
And then just noticing the stillness and the slowness and the lightness of the breath.
You are safe.
You are all that you need.
If your mind has wandered,
That's okay.
The mind is just doing what the mind does.
Just coming back to the breath and focusing on the right side of the heart.
Science has shown that five minutes of breathing,
Focusing on the heart can have effects for up to six hours.
Allow the softness that comes when focusing on the heart,
The presence,
The compassion,
The love.
Gently bringing awareness back into your body.
You can start to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Maybe take a big,
Deep stretch.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
