Hello and welcome to July's Monthly Reset Meditation.
I'm honored that you're here and sharing this space with me today.
These monthly meditations,
Always on the first of every month,
Serve as a recalibration diving into the month ahead.
We will center into the space together.
I will guide you through a series of thought exercises,
And we will end with a series of affirmations to keep with us throughout the month.
So if you're ready,
Just settle into your surroundings.
Whether you're sitting in a chair or on the floor or even lying down.
Make any adjustments your body feels called to make,
Whatever feels most supportive for you.
Feel free to close your eyes or leave them in a soft gaze.
And just be with the natural rhythm of your breath here for a few beats.
We'll begin today's meditation by doing a brief body scan,
Checking in with ourselves before diving into the visualization and affirmations for July.
Starting at the crown of your head,
Imagine a warm glow flowing throughout your body.
This light is like an elixir,
Relaxing every muscle it comes in contact with,
Loosening any knots and alleviating any pain points.
As you visualize this warmth,
Allow it to move through any spaces of tenderness in your body,
Knowing that it is safe and here for your healing.
Notice this warmth as it moves down through your face muscles.
Warming your neck.
Your shoulders and chest.
Moving down through your arms.
All the way to the tips of your fingers.
Allow this glow to wash over you.
Creating a sensation of comfort throughout your entire body.
Notice as it moves down through your abdomen.
Along your spine and back body.
All the way through your pelvis,
Hips,
And sits bones.
Traveling all along the tops of your legs.
Down through your shins and calves.
All the way down surrounding your ankles.
And traveling to the tips of your toes.
As you see the light reach your toes,
Take a deep inhale,
Breathing in through your nose into your entire body.
And on your exhale,
Sigh out any final points of tension you may have been holding on to.
We'll do two more rounds of that.
Deep inhale in.
Filling up every part of you.
And sighing out on the exhale.
Last time,
Deep inhale,
Breathing into the nose.
Opening up the airflow in your chest and belly.
Then deep sigh.
Exhaling it all out.
From here,
Settle into your body's natural breathing rhythm.
And find yourself in your mind's eye.
On a beach at sunrise.
The first day of this new month is stretched out before you.
Perhaps you've been to a particular beach that feels safe to you.
If so,
Envision that place.
Notice the sand beneath you.
And look out at the water,
This great expanse of blue-green laid out in front of you.
Breathe in the salty summer air for a couple of beats and simply listen to the rise and fall of the shorelines.
Waves gently washing up.
Perhaps you're barefoot and the water brushes across your toes.
Warm July sun slowly rising above the horizon.
Settle into this space knowing you are meant to be exactly where you find yourself.
No to-do lists,
Nothing pressing.
Just the water and the sand and the sounds of nature surrounding you.
As you breathe here,
You happen to look down at your feet and see that a small glass bottle is resting in the sand beside you.
You pick it up to inspect it and notice there is a pin and a blank slip of paper rolled up inside the bottle.
You turn the bottle upside down and the pen and paper drop into your hands.
You instinctively know what to do.
Almost as if you have been here before.
You uncap the pen and write your deepest doubts,
Worries,
And fears on that slip of paper.
Once you finish,
You roll the paper up.
Place the cap back on the pen and place both of them back in the glass bottle.
You know it is time for these thoughts and feelings to go.
You toss the bottle into the water and watch as it drifts out to sea.
You move along the shoreline for a few moments,
Looking at seashells,
Feeling the soft sand beneath you,
As pieces of your doubts,
Worries,
And fears begin to slip away,
Almost like the tide is washing them from you.
You return home feeling just a little bit lighter.
A week or two passes.
The month is moving forward.
And you decide to return to this beach to enjoy the summer shoreline breeze and feel the water on your skin.
As you arrive,
You look out into the water and a few feet in front of you,
You notice that the very same bottle from before is slowly drifting towards you.
You start to feel a little nervous and frustrated.
You thought the waves had rid you of your worries.
You find yourself looking down at the bottle again,
Upset that your doubts have been returned to you.
But something feels different about the paper.
You take the slip of paper from the bottle once again and realize it had gotten wet at some point and nearly every trace of ink was gone.
The water simply wanted to show you that with time,
It had washed away the heaviness you had been feeling.
You almost don't even remember what you wrote.
The pen still accompanies the paper,
So you decide to write down anything else that had been lingering in your mind since the first of the month.
You return the paper into the bottle,
Rolled up around the pen,
And you toss the bottle back into the water once more.
Now that you have familiarized yourself with this routine,
The water has shown you the letting go feels more easeful.
You already know the water is working its magic and helping to flush away the ink of your fears.
You slowly leave the beach,
Knowing you can always visit again.
I'd like to now offer a few affirmations to provide some support as you journey along your path this month.
Feel free to use any of these or create your own.
You can repeat them back to yourself either out loud or in your mind.
And I'll repeat them twice so you can let it marinate the first time.
Even if I'm not yet ready to swim with my emotions,
I can always find myself on the shoreline of awareness.
I am able and allowed to put down my fears,
Doubts,
And worries at any time.
I am able and allowed to put down my fears,
Doubts,
And worries at any time.
In a society that thrives off of my exhaustion,
Creating spaces of intentional rest is an act of resistance.
In a society that thrives off of my exhaustion,
Creating spaces of intentional rest is an act of resistance.
And so it is.
Feel free to come back to this visualization anytime throughout the month if you're needing the reminder of the power of water and its deep connection to our emotional being.
I'm so grateful you joined me here today.
I like to close my meditations with a phrase that keeps me grateful,
Centered,
And hopeful.
Thank you.
I love you.
Keep going.
Until next time.
