This practice is for your mornings.

Sometimes it's hard to find things to be grateful for and so I hope this reminds you of things you might have forgotten.

Let's begin.

Gratitude for the water that flows,

In any river,

All over the world.

Oh this flow,

How amazing it is that I have no say in the way it flows and that it shall and will flow regardless of me.

Thank you.

Gratitude for the cells forming my body,

The little bits of invisible workers carrying me all day and all night.

How do I know the daily routine of these kind workers taking vitamins in and out,

The to-do list that I will never fathom in my head.

Also thank you.

Gratitude for the bushes,

For the remainder of these trees around,

All in harmony keeping my lungs healthy.

How beautiful to know that they are where they need to be.

And oh how grateful I am to be wherever the trees are.

Gratitude for the little pollinators of this planet,

All the ones I know and the ones I don't know about.

Thank you.

Gratitude for my mother,

For in her womb I became and in her hands I grew and in her soul I revive.

Gratitude for the clouds that carry the very ingredient of life on this planet.

I'm grateful for the dots,

The commas and the question marks when I need the ending and the pause and the question that I ask about the very essence of life.

Gratitude for the children that carry joy around,

All those children that smile at butterflies and jump for the wave of a tree branch.

I have not seen a smile as bright as that of a child seeing the ocean for the first time or the rain or the stars.

Thank you to all the children that brings back truth when all of us have lost it.

Gratitude for the stars,

Seen or unseen,

They carry the truth of a world beyond ours.

And so thank you,

For as a child I could not have seen a more majestic sky but the one with all the little twinkles everywhere.

And gratitude for each and every needle that stitched together the fabric of my one day old body to my last day.

Thank you.
