What keeps you from being happy?
Right now,
At this moment,
What exactly would it be that would make you happy?
Does something come to your mind like,
If I just?
That's great,
Because that's a signal that maybe everything that keeps you from being happy is stuck in the past or the future.
For our brain,
A journey through time is absolutely no problem.
And in this podcast,
I show you what helps me to become happier.
Actually,
I don't want to be happy.
I'm no longer searching for euphoria,
At least not in every moment of my life,
Because that would be way too exhausting.
What I'm looking for instead is the mindful and conscious experience of the moment.
It's the ability of savoring what is right now.
And if you like,
Sit down,
Relax,
And come along on my little time travel to the here and now.
What is right now?
What do you feel?
What do you hear?
And what do you smell?
What do you taste?
And what is your body feeling like?
And what keeps you from taking a break and really experiencing the moment and to savor it?
To savor that you have the time to listen to this podcast,
To feel the temperature on your skin,
To feel connected to the people around you with every breath you take,
To the objects you see,
To the atmosphere around you,
And to the sounds you can hear?
What keeps you from feeling a smile on your face for just one moment?
To let go of tension internally?
What keeps you from just being for a moment?
What keeps you from inviting yourself to savor whatever you have right now?
No matter what may happen in the next second,
The next minute,
Or the next hour,
Or even the next day.
What keeps you from teaching your brain how it can make yourself happier?
The happiness inside us is always there.
What keeps you from savoring it?
Even though it's just for the tiniest moment.
Again and again we think,
If I just had a partner,
The perfect job,
More time,
Or more money,
Then I could be happy.
Then I could savor it.
But what if we had all this and even then there would be the same moment like now,
Where we are just on our own?
External circumstances are never there for us for 24 hours to make us happy.
So why should we just be able to savor all these moments in our life if we were already happy?
Why just allow yourself happiness when specific circumstances entered your life?
It's never the moment or the situation itself that makes us happy.
It's our inner experience.
It's the ability to recognize the happiness that lies within this moment and it's the inner permission to savor it.
So if you want to be happy,
Then pause for a moment and ask yourself what keeps you from being happy right now,
Just for this moment?
And if you want to be happier more often,
Then ask yourself more often what keeps me from savoring this moment right now?
Namaste.
