Sound Bath Sessions 300: Alfonso Sum, Olivia Feng

After 2 years, I finally had the opportunity to record another session with Alfonso and Olivia. They have since moved into a new flat down the road from their old place in the Lam Tsuen area of Hong Kong, which is not the Hong Kong that people are used to. Life is slower there, quiet and peaceful. This session was just as minimal as before and when paired with the nature and local life outside their window, grounds you to a time and place in their life- encouraging the listener to be more present within their space rather than send them under. Each recording is presented as a part of a whole, with no apparent beginning or end, just a continuation.

In this recording, Olivia uses the regular sound of piano to play somber melodies as Alfonso is back on the bowls providing a dramatic backdrop of minimal, droning low tones. Slow and wandering, they play with loud and soft sounds creating depth. Light construction and rustling leaves can be heard in the distance.
