Sound Bath Sessions 274: Quentin Chow
Quentin Chow's studio is along Lockhart Road and conveniently reached from the Exhibition Centre MTR through the maze of bridges. She has been practicing sound baths for several years and first introduced to it by her reiki teacher. Quentin plays piano and says her musical background helps her to fine tune the experience of her sound baths. The room was small with a central air vent providing a bed of soft white noise. Her windows faced the busy street below with the deep rumbles and passing swells of double decker buses sounding like waves on a distant shore. She starts the first session with a repetitive rhythm, striking a left bowl, right bowl, left, right, before she slowly creates pure, delicate mists of sound that seem to ignore walls, expanding the size of the room. Using the heavier bowls with slower tempos create a seemingly thicker air making me breathe more deep. The delicate sound of the higher tone bowls relieve the tension of the moment allowing me to melt further in.
