I recorded Dennis in his studio in the Sanxia District near the National Taipei University. He is Nepalese and has been living in Taiwan for many years. He sells metal singing bowls from his studio. You can feel the slowness of life here, and it reflects in his sessions. We had a great conversation between sessions, and he dispelled some of the myths that intimidated me about singing bowls and sound baths, mainly that it is just sound and any spiritual connections to Shakras, etc., are purely up to the beliefs of the individual. With less doubt on my shoulders, I feel that I can fully connect with sessions on my own terms and not feel like I am missing out on some deeper meaning. In this session, I love how you can hear very faint sounds of the building complex underneath an already quiet space. The footsteps and conversations echoing down a long corridor hint at life beyond, as if representing how deep we are from the surface of our consciousness.
