Sound Bath Sessions 242: Siyeon Ham
Siyeon was my last recording in Korea. She met me at Wonjong Station at around 9 pm, and we recorded at her apartment in a quiet neighborhood nearby. The room was small, so the sound was very direct and intimate. Siyeon played large quartz bowls and an ocean drum for her sessions. It was interesting listening to these recordings again in the edit. There was a progression from the first to the last recording. The first session was active and bold, the second session was melodic and slow, and the third session's ocean drum was just a beautiful bed of calming white noise. It was like the journey of a person during a sound bath, starting with a complicated, busy mind, then slowly calming down until you reach a much simpler state and feeling. The ocean drum in this track actually sounded like a heavy rainstorm in a typhoon. I never had that feeling before from an ocean drum. Wind and power. A great finale to my trip in Korea.
