Sound Bath Sessions 226: Morrison Su, Missy Liu
We all met at 7pm at Missy's studio is in the Datong District of Taipei near Dihua Street. They usually play together so their style, mood, and personalities are perfectly matched. Each of them focused on their instruments as well as being mindful of the entire recording. Their improvisation had a great dialog, taking turns to create a new sound then playing with it to see where it would take them. All of their instruments were placed along the walls so I put my microphone in the middle of the room. Morrison sat in the front and played metal bowls and shakers. Missy was more mobile playing the shamanic drum, metal bowls, and the gong which was behind me. This track is their longer 40-minute session where they played many instruments around the room. The moving sounds create an interesting stereo experience. Some passing conversations and motor bikes also drive past.
