Five minutes to grounded calmness.
A quick guided breathing exercise to bring you back into a calm,
Grounded and mindful state.
We will be using a breathing method called the Box Breathing technique.
The Box Breathing technique,
Also known as Four Square Breathing,
Is a simple technique that you can do at any time that you feel stressed.
The breathing pattern will be as follows.
Breathe in for a count of four,
Hold for four,
Breathe out for four,
And hold for another four.
Mindfully focus on counting for each breath and each hold.
The act of counting will act as a centering mechanism and will provide you with the space to be grounded in the present moment.
Let's begin.
Sit or lie down comfortably.
If you must stand,
Do so with your legs shoulder width apart and arms hanging naturally at your sides.
Now relax.
Relax your muscles as much as you consciously can without too much effort.
Begin breathing.
Inhale,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Hold,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Exhale,
Two,
Three,
Four,
And hold,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale,
Hold.
Keep focusing on your breath and counting.
Feel as it slows down the rhythms of your body and mind.
Nothing else matters right now.
All that matters is this moment of breathing and being.
Exhale,
Continue this breathing for as long as you like.
Inhale,
Hold,
Hold,
Hold.
Out,
Out,
Out,
Out,
Hold,
Hold,
Hold.
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale,
Hold.
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale,
Hold.
Inhale,
Inhale,
Inhale,
Hold.
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale,
Exhale.
Exhale,
Continue this breathing for as long as you like.
Inhale,
Hold,
Hold,
Hold.
