Before we begin,
Take a moment to arrive.
This practice is an invitation to gently reset your nervous system,
To guide your body out of doing and into deep restoration.
Throughout the day,
Your system is constantly processing,
Responding,
Holding,
And without intentional rest,
That activation can linger,
Making it harder to fully let go.
And so here,
Now,
We create the conditions for your body to remember how to rest naturally.
There is nothing you need to achieve here.
You may drift in and out of sleep at any point.
You may remain aware and simply follow the sound of my voice.
Or you may wander and gently return again.
All of it is welcome.
If at any time you feel the need to adjust your body,
Please do.
This is your practice.
Think of this as an opportunity to soften your grip,
To release effort,
And to relax into a state of receptivity.
Let your mind rest here so your body can do what it already knows how to do.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable position,
Lying down,
Supported,
At ease,
Allowing any little wiggles and adjustments,
And letting your arms rest naturally,
Palms open,
Or wherever they feel most comfortable.
Gently close your eyes.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and exhale softly through your mouth.
Again,
In and exhale,
Letting go.
One more time,
Breathing in and breathing out.
Allow your breath now to settle into its natural rhythm.
Feel the weight of your body being held by the surface beneath you.
There is nowhere to go,
Nothing to do.
Bring your awareness to your breath without changing anything,
Just noticing the gentle rise and fall.
With each exhale,
Allowing your body to sink a little deeper,
Your nervous system begins to unwind,
Shifting from alertness into safety.
From effort,
You are safe to rest.
You are safe to let go.
In this quiet,
Receptive state,
We plant the seed of your sankalpa,
A simple,
Heartfelt intention,
Spoken in the present tense.
I am deeply at peace.
My body knows how to rest.
I trust the rhythm of life.
I am safe and supported.
Let it arise in you naturally,
Perhaps in your own words.
Take a moment now to feel any intention that arises naturally.
Gently repeat your sankalpa three times with quiet awareness.
Let it land deep within.
Let it germinate in the fertile soils of your subconscious.
Now we move awareness through the body.
Simply notice each body part as I name it,
And then let it go.
Notice your right hand thumb.
First finger.
Second finger.
Third finger.
Fourth finger.
Your right palm.
Wrist.
Forearm.
Upper arm.
Shoulder.
Sole.
Top of the right foot.
Right big toe.
Third toe.
First finger.
Second finger.
Third finger.
Fourth finger.
Third finger.
Your left palm.
Wrist.
Shoulder.
Your left waist.
Top of your left foot.
Left big toe.
Second toe.
Third toe.
Little toe.
Back of the body.
Back of the head.
Head.
Shoulders.
Upper back.
Front of the body.
Crown of the head.
Forehead.
Head.
Space between brows.
Chest.
Bring awareness to your breath at the belly.
Softly rising.
Begin counting backwards from twenty-seven with each exhale.
If the mind drifts,
Gently return and start again.
Let the counting guide you deeper.
Deeper into stillness.
Now imagine a soft,
Warm light above you.
It begins to flow down through your body.
Softening the scalp.
Relaxing the forehead.
Resting back in their sockets as though lounging in hammocks.
Belly warm and hips releasing.
Feet grounded.
Your entire body held in this gentle field of calm.
Your nervous system recalibrates.
Returning to balance effortlessly.
Imagine now a place where you feel completely safe.
Your own private sanctuary of rest.
Perhaps a quiet forest.
A warm shoreline.
Or a peaceful room filled with soft light.
Notice the details.
The air.
There is a place here for you to lie down.
And as you do,
Your body recognizes this space.
A place for deep rest.
As you settle,
Every layer of your being begins to soften.
Every layer of your being letting go.
And now silently repeat.
I release the day.
I soften into rest.
My body restores itself naturally.
My nervous system is calm.
I am safe to sleep.
I trust this moment.
I am held in ease.
Let these words settle into your body.
Your seed intention.
Repeat it gently three times.
Internally.
Feel it as already true.
No effort.
Just resting.
Let yourself drift.
Your body heavy.
If sleep comes,
Allow it.
If awareness remains,
Rest in the sound of my voice.
Either way,
You are restoring.
As you continue to rest.
Know your body is recalibrating.
When you awaken,
You will return more.
