Into Stillness
"It is a distinctive kind of fiddle which sounds especially charming in the stillness of the evening" writes Leopold Mozart about the viola d´amore. The viola d´amore has 6 strings instead of 4 strings on the violin and also a set of resonant strings which give it a warm and sweet sound. I like to see it as the introvert soulful brother of the violin. This improvisation is made for meditation and calming down for the night. The tonality is inspired by swedish fäbodsmusik (shepherd music). In the summertime often peasant maidens in solitude went for several days into the woods and wilderness to find food for the cattle. A certain music and tonality developed.
