Our prayer today comes from Psalm 26.
Prove me,
O Lord,
And try me.
Test my heart and my mind,
For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
And I walk in your faithfulness.
Take in another deep breath as these words wash over you.
The psalmist invites us to bring our whole selves,
Our thoughts,
And our emotions to the Lord.
We are to examine our hearts and our minds in the light of God's steadfast love for us.
He is the one who has gone to the utmost lengths to give us life.
He is the one who gives us everything that we need.
He delights for us to bring our hearts and our minds to him in the joy or in the sadness.
He can be with us in the healing or in the pain.
He can be with us in whatever circumstances we are experiencing today.
May we see our actions and reactions to our circumstances through the light of his steadfast love for us.
The Lord is unwavering,
Unchanging.
His love is not conditional upon our performance.
We belong to him.
He smiles over us.
I'm going to read the psalm one more time,
After which I invite you to be present with your heart and your mind in light of God's steadfast love for us.
At the end of a time of listening for God's steadfast love,
Listening for his direction,
For how he would have us walk,
I will close us in prayer.
