A Practical Prayer based on "be still and know that I am God" from Psalm 46, recorded live as the closing prayer from "CTAs and Thanksgiving", Season 3, Episode 26 of the "Practical Prayer" podcast. A Practical Prayer follows the specific set of steps found in the most effective prayers from spiritual traditions and religions all over the world, and throughout history. It's the same process described in Rev. Bill's book "Practical Prayer for Real Results."

I'm gonna do a prayer inspired by your meditation,

Be still and know that I am God.

The being still part,

The letting go part,

The spiritual way to express that is get over thyself.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

You thought you knew,

You need to let go of that.

Be still and know that I am God and that I am is everything that we are and so,

So,

So much bigger.

That infinite power and presence is everything.

It's everyone,

It's everywhere.

That's all there is.

And when we get over our small selves and open up to that divine power and presence within,

That infinite power is accessible and starts working on what is uplifting and positive and in alignment with that tone and texture of life that we're seeking.

Be still and know.

Be still and know.

So let's take that,

Let's take that into prayer.

And to do that,

We'll start by turning away from the details in the world around us and opening to that infinite power and presence that is available within.

You can close your eyes,

You can go to a soft focus.

Whatever it is that takes away your attention to the specifics,

That's anything that might have been hooking your attention,

Just let loose of that to open up to that divine power and presence within.

Be still.

Be still and be aware of the infinite creative power that created everything.

It doesn't matter what our creation story is,

Whether we describe the big bang,

The singularity that began exploding or expanding.

That one is all of the substance,

All of the energy,

All of the intelligence that exists everywhere came from that one.

It has to have,

There was nothing but the singularity to take it into scripture.

The beginning was darkness and void and God.

There was nothing but God.

That infinite creative power and presence,

That divine intelligence that said let there be light.

And the universe began unfolding.

And creative law created the light and then created whatever else was being added unto it.

And since everything is part of that one creative unfolding,

It's true of me.

It's true of everybody listening right now.

That divine power and presence is within right here and now and always.

So we get to be still and know that the I am presence is us.

It's me.

It's each of us right here and right now.

By turning away from the details outside,

We can become even more fully aware.

We can be still and know that I am presence and I am presence right here and right now.

And just in that space of quiet and openness and receptivity,

By setting an intention for the flavor,

The tone,

The texture,

The notion of what that next new experience in our life,

Whether it's in the next five minutes or as our life unfolds into the future,

What's that experience that we're inviting,

The feeling of the experience,

Not the specifics of it?

And settle into a feeling of gratitude for that good that's already on the way.

Thankful for that infinite creative power that's already creating it,

Not by our action,

Not by our call to action,

By our call to consciousness,

By our deepening into the awareness of the truth,

By being still and knowing that I am power and presence within.

So as we open ourselves up to that newness,

To that goodness,

To that richness,

To that flavor and experience of health and vitality,

Of wealth and prosperity,

Of love and relationship,

Connection with family and friends and our beloved,

With the creativity in our work and the ability to share our unique skills and talents,

Gratitude for the deepening of our spiritual awareness,

For being able to dive into that spiral and go deeper and deeper and allow the good to become richer and broader.

Grateful for all of this good.

So with gratitude for all of this,

I speak this word and I release it into that same creative law that has created everything.

And I know without question,

Without doubt,

Without hesitation that this good is already unfolding.

And so I let it be.

And so it is.
