Hi,
Thank you for joining me today.
Today we're going to spend some time with an old pet and just meditate with them near us to help us as our old pet or our maybe ailing pet.
Need some comfort and love and we need to find some acceptance and support just to get us through their hard times.
So find a comfortable seated position,
You know,
Rather than moving your loved friend,
Move a little closer to them.
Sit comfortably either on a cushion,
If your pet is on the couch,
Maybe sit next to them or sit on the floor just right next to them and find your long straight spine lifting up through the crown of your head.
Focus on your breath here and maybe now you're already reaching over and touching your pet.
Just gently feeling the softness of their fur.
Soften your gaze.
Breathe slowly in and out.
And if you're petting your friend,
Turn your focus to the feel of their fur.
And if they're away from you and you're not,
Turn your focus to the sound of their breath.
And as you do that,
Breathe long,
Slow inhales for yourself and long slow exhales.
And now on your inhale,
Imagine filling your heart with a warm loving light.
And on your exhales,
Imagine that you're sending that warm loving light to your pet.
Imagine that warm filling up their heart space.
So with every inhale,
Inhaling warmth and light and peace.
And with your exhale,
Sending that energy and love to your pet.
So keeping your focus on your breath and on your pet.
And now maybe your dear friend has a health condition that you want to help them with.
So taking your inhale,
Again filling it up in your own heart space.
Imagining that warm loving light.
And then send it,
When you're sending it toward your friend,
Imagine your energy healing or comforting that space.
Feeling some positive energy,
Some loving healing thoughts.
And if you have more than one pet and they come up and want attention,
Then certainly take your other hand and start rubbing their forehead.
So with every breath,
You're finding warmth and light and healing energy.
And with your exhale,
You're sending that to your pet.
You're sending it to where maybe they hurt or need extra healing or you're filling up their heart space.
And now take a moment and imagine the love from the heart of your pet coming back to your heart and filling you up with warmth and love.
And again,
If you have two pets that have shown up,
Let's double the love filling you up.
And then checking in with yourself,
Notice that maybe your anxiety is coming down as you touch your pets and as you fill them with warmth and love and send all of your positive,
Hopeful healing energy their way.
And maybe one of your younger pets has come to join you.
Again,
Invite them.
And perhaps your pet maybe doesn't want to be disturbed sometimes.
Sometimes just resting is what they need.
And then just focus your energy,
Again,
Filling your heart space and sending it to them,
Filling them up.
Just envision them healing or releasing pain and relaxing,
Maybe releasing their anxiety.
And then accept the love that comes back from them and allow it to fill up your heart space.
Now we'll take a few quiet moments where you can practice any of these for just a few minutes.
Maybe checking in with your own posture.
Checking your spine long and straight.
Feeling the flow of your breath and your energy to your pet and receiving it back.
And now think of a day.
When your friend was healthier or younger,
Maybe just running.
Maybe you looked at their face and saw them laughing with joy,
Running to you with love.
Or if you have an anxious pet,
Maybe they found the toy that they liked and played with it.
Maybe they greeted family for the first time.
Think of a happy moment.
And then share that thought,
Just mentally share it with your pet.
Envisioning them young and well.
Maybe a healthier day if you have a young pet that's recovering.
Share that youthful energy,
That health.
Share those healthy thoughts.
And again,
Connecting them as you inhale and then sending those thoughts to your pet.
And imagine them just being their young self,
Their healthy self.
Now we'll close with that happy,
Healthy thought.
Take one final breath in,
Noticing that your body is filled with warmth and light and love.
Send a last breath off to your pet,
Seeing that they too are glowing in the warmth and healing light of your love.
And then accept their love back as they send it.
Gently open your eyes if they were closed.
Greeting your pets.
And have a wonderful day.
