I remember when I finally saw the reason for the commandment,
Aone,
Thy father and thy mother.
And the reason is because if we can see the best of our parents,
If we can see their greatness and their worth,
Even if there were lots and lots of flaws,
But if we can see the gold in them,
Then we can see the gold in us.
Do you see?
I know that it's easy to focus on trauma and,
You know,
All the wounding of our childhood.
And sure,
That has to be acknowledged,
But that's not the whole story.
There were some good moments in there.
And maybe you got enough to build on.
Because,
You know,
Who you are is pretty good.
So,
You know,
Something good must have happened for you growing up.
Yeah,
To think that way,
To honor our ancestors,
Not just focusing on the trauma,
To honor.
What were their strengths?
What was the gold in them?
What was the gift they brought?
Because then we can see our own gifts.
It makes it much easier.
That's what I found personally,
And I've seen it in others,
In my students.
Yeah,
So please.
I mean,
I remember Abraham,
The Hawaiian kahuna with whom I study,
He used to say,
You know,
Speak the best of yourself and others.
But that brings out the best in us.
Because,
You know,
When we run somebody down verbally or even think that,
Energetically,
That's sent to them.
And it increases their load,
Energetically.
It will darken.
If we're sending dark thoughts and everything,
It will darken their experience.
You know,
Maybe subtly,
But then think of the number of thoughts that might come from us.
They add up.
But also,
And this is where self-preservation might kick in,
It all comes back to you.
Any negative thought you think comes back to you.
So,
You know,
It's not to ban all negativity or to refuse to see the darkness that maybe was there,
But to honor what was good and great in your parents.
And it might take even time to see it,
But you'll be able to see your own strengths and feel your own worth as you allow,
You know,
To see the good in them.
Okay,
I'm just making this video because I think we're just getting so lost in this darkness,
Focusing on trauma.
And,
You know,
The way you come out of trauma is through love and forgiveness,
Yeah,
Of yourself and others.
But a big step is just being willing to see the good,
What the good was in your parents and family of origin.
Okay,
Bless your hearts.
