Malcolm Gladwell noted that it takes 10,000 hours to achieve mastery at a subject. Sure it takes time to learn the rules & techniques of a subject, but these aspects are just part of the journey, but not the end game. Likewise, spiritual techniques are necessary at the beginning of our journey but liberation or moksha, is just that, freedom from rules, that is, room to play and improvise with childlike innocence. Premasudha reminds us the rules of the spiritual journey are intended to finally free the love, warmth, intuition and generosity within us, not to inhibit or suppress them.

If we're learning something new,

We learn the rules first,

Right?

And then as we get skilled,

We outgrow the techniques and we get to play beyond that.

We use the techniques,

Kind of,

But in a wild way.

We're not limited by just the techniques because we have the bigger understanding.

The same thing happens in the journey.

Early people are often very interested in the rules,

And the rules are important,

But you guys,

The spiritual journey is the freeing of love,

Compassion,

Kindness,

And generosity.

It's that.

It's that.

And if the rules help us get there,

Great,

But it's a travesty to have a big focus on rules and structures and forget the love and compassion and kindness and generosity.

It never ceases to amaze me how a moment, or in this case, a minute long talk, can lead to hours of contemplation and insight. I've gained so much from your generous sharing of knowledge. You have a gift of keeping your words very real, and delivered with a felt sense they come from a genuine, caring place of loving kindness. 🙏🏼

Much needed reminder that the “spiritual journey is living with love, compassion, kindness and generosity.” It’s easy to get caught up in the “rules” Love your satsangs 🙏🏻🩷💛🩵💚
