Being The Breath
With this meditation, you become one with your breath. Your breath lulls you into a deep peacefulness. You realize how intimate you are with your breath. It's always been there for you. It's an innate part of you. In the background, you can hear occasional raindrops on the roof.

Hi,
This is Brooks.
It's good to be here with you.
Thanks for joining me.
Today we're gonna do a meditation about the breath.
So find a comfortable place to sit or to lie down.
And then close your eyes.
Feel the breath come into your body.
And feel the breath go back out.
The breath comes in.
The breath goes back out.
The body is breathing you.
You get to sit back and relax and enjoy.
And the body gives you life.
With every breath you take,
You're given life.
The breath is filled with oxygen.
The body takes that oxygen and uses it to function.
The breath is filled with oxygen.
So life itself is basically giving itself to you.
It's giving you life with every breath.
With every breath.
And you've been given this breath since you were born.
And the interesting thing about the breath is such a simple process.
It's very common.
It's always been there.
So it goes unnoticed.
Those things that are most common tend to be unseen.
But it's nice to take this time to notice.
To notice life breathing us.
Life must sure love us.
To give us the breath.
Repeatedly.
Over and over.
Even when we're sleeping.
Another interesting thing is throughout our lives our body changes.
And our mind changes.
We learn new things.
We have different experiences.
Our body grows.
Our thoughts change.
So our body and our minds are always changing.
But the one constant is our breath.
Is our breathing.
It's always been there.
So maybe,
Perhaps,
We're not the body or the mind.
But we're the breath.
Without the breath we wouldn't be alive.
We wouldn't exist.
With this constant gift of the breath,
We're alive and we experience life.
That constant breath.
It's always been there.
So maybe,
Perhaps,
It's what we are.
Feel that breath come in.
And the breath goes out.
And notice that the intimacy of the breath.
It's so simple and so close.
Such an intimate part of you.
When we close our eyes and we connect with our breath in this way,
It's a reminder of our basic nature.
Of our aliveness.
Of who we are.
It simplifies everything.
It has a way of erasing confusion and overwhelm and uncertainty.
So whenever you feel confused or overwhelmed,
You can close your eyes and put your attention on your breathing,
On your breath.
And you feel okay again.
And you remember who you are.
And it can make you feel peaceful and loved and cared for and alive.
So we're going to end our meditation now.
You can stretch and open your eyes.
Look around the room.
Even with your eyes open,
You can still notice your breath.
You can feel the ribs expand and contract.
You can feel the air move through your nose or through your mouth.
Thanks for spending this time with me.
I wish you the best.
