When you're caught in the depth of anxiety it can feel like that feeling is the very fabric of existence. In this video I talk about how we can reframe anxiety and almost befriend it with the simple recognition that anxiety exists because the mind is trying to tell us something. What's your anxiety trying to tell you?

Transcript

Hi everyone,

Today I want to talk about the power that we all have to reframe anxiety.

Because anxiety is often seen as a negative emotion because you get that heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach,

Perhaps you become a little bit shaky,

Nervous.

Your thoughts start to propel you into the future or into the past.

And take you away from the present moment.

So it's seen as a negative emotion.

But why is it that anxiety takes us away from the present moment?

Surely there's something to that.

I believe there is.

I believe that anxiety takes us away from the present moment and into our minds.

Because our body is trying to tell us something.

If we're feeling something deeply,

Then it means.

.

.

More often than not,

There's something we're neglecting or something that we're not seeing at this time.

I woke up this morning with really deep anxiety and that's why I'm creating this video today to talk to you about it because there was a recognition that I had today,

A little reminder that I needed to take care of myself.

Because this week I've been taking care of people in different ways.

Helping people out with their car,

Helping people get to certain places.

And I noticed that I was kind of.

.

.

Neglecting myself a little bit to help others and there's nothing wrong with that from time to time you've got to you know be there for people but There comes a time and a place where you have to sit with your own feelings and emotions and say to yourself,

Hang on a minute.

Neglecting myself here in some way.

And that's the point that I got to this morning.

I woke up.

And I was kind of tired anyway.

I didn't sleep too well.

Their sickness going around in my house at the moment.

So.

.

.

I've kind of been up later than usual helping people because they've been quite ill.

And that's thrown my sleeping pattern off so i woke up this morning a little bit tired but also i woke up with this deep feeling of anxiety And it put me straight into my head as soon as I woke up in the morning.

I thought.

.

.

All sorts of things like,

Oh,

I'm not feeling great today.

I need to do this and I need to do that.

And I caught myself in that thought pattern this morning.

I stopped for a moment and I thought to myself,

This isn't helpful.

This thought process that you have right now.

How about you sit with that anxiety for a moment?

And just listen to it.

Because it might not be a bad thing that you're experiencing it right now.

It might be that there's something that you need to take care of in your life.

The answer came to me.

I needed to slow down.

I was moving so fast.

Really fast trying to help this person trying to help that person trying to fix this problem trying to solve that problem and today i didn't need to attend to anything other than myself.

So I took myself to the woods.

I wandered off the beaten track.

And I thought I'd make a video about it as a reminder to anyone that's watching this video right now that If you are feeling A little bit lost,

Maybe?

Or perhaps you feel like.

.

.

There's something in your life right now that's really.

.

.

Present.

That you need to address then give yourself the time to address it.

That's probably what you need to do.

You need to slow down and sit with that feeling.

I don't think it's about solving anxiety a lot of the time.

I think a lot of the time it's just about being with it,

Accepting it.

Because acceptance is key.

I actually made a course called The Art of Acceptance.

Creating more frequent moments of bliss.

Because I recognised that acceptance is the key to creating bliss.

When you're fighting that feeling of anxiety,

When you're pushing against it,

Pushing it away.

It's only going to come back stronger.

You're giving it more energy.

Or as if you sit with it and say.

.

.

You know,

Anxiety is my friend.

It's not my enemy.

It's telling me something.

Nurture yourself in that moment.

And you'll notice that the anxiety will slowly begin to diminish.

Over time.

And it's quite a beautiful thing,

Really.

Because.

.

.

There is some knowledge in that.

Once you sit down with your anxiety.

A recognition takes place,

A recognition of.

.

.

It was never about solving everything.

In fact There's nothing I need to be.

Nothing I need to achieve.

Nothing I need to succeed.

In any way I just need to be.

And slow down from time to time.

And then.

.

.

Life becomes a lot more simpler.

It doesn't stop the anxiety in the future.

It's going to come back from time to time.

And that's a good thing.

You're talking to yourself.

It's your higher self speaking to your mind.

To your body saying Hey.

You've been doing a lot lately and you're not going to find fulfillment.

At going 100 miles an hour all the time.

You're going to find fulfillment in the slow,

In the now.

So that's what this video is all about.

It's just a reminder to.

.

.

Reframe that anxiety if you're feeling it.

Take yourself off for a little while.

Go to the beach.

Go to the woods.

Go for a walk.

Slow down.

Sit.

Don't doom scroll on your phone.

Don't distract yourself,

Just be.

And you might begin to notice the simple things in life.

And you might begin to recognize that.

That simplicity.

Is the calm that you're seeking.

Thank you for being here.

And I hope that you can find that place of calm in your life.
