Tonight we are going to rearrange gravity.
Right now,
Gravity is pulling on everything,
Your muscles,
Your thoughts,
Even the tiny effort of being a person.
But imagine this.
There's a dial somewhere inside you.
No one installed it.
It's just always been there.
And it controls how much things matter.
Not in a sad way,
But in a freeing way.
I'd like you to start turning it down.
Turn down that dial just a notch.
And as you do so,
Notice in your body what loosens first.
Maybe your shoulders stopped trying to finish the day.
Maybe your mind stops trying to wrap things up.
Once again,
Turn it down another notch.
Now even your thoughts don't land as heavily.
They pass through more like suggestions than responsibilities.
Turn it down another notch.
This time your body begins to feel less like something you're managing,
More like something you're wearing loosely.
Good.
Feel that looseness.
And as we carry on,
Instead of focusing on your breath,
I'd like you to try and focus on the spaces between your breaths.
So after your inhale,
There's a tiny pause and another after you exhale.
Don't stretch them to something unnatural,
Just notice those tiny little pauses in between.
These pauses are like little doorways,
And each time you pass one,
Imagine you step slightly out of today.
Just a half step or so.
Half a step further.
No dramatic changes.
But things begin to feel less attached to you.
You may begin to feel like your thoughts belong to the earlier version of you and you're gently outgrowing them in real time.
Now allow this way of breathing.
To become something in the background and I'd like you to refocus on your body.
I'd like you to pick one small area,
Whether that's your hand,
Your cheek or your foot,
And instead of relaxing it,
Imagine it's being approved.
Almost as if some quiet system just stamped it,
Nothing is required here.
And as you do so,
Feel what that does.
Now move to another area.
Approved.
And another area approved.
Continue working your way around different areas in your body.
And remember,
You're not releasing tension directly,
You're just removing the reason it was there.
Bit by bit.
The whole body will get the message.
There's nothing left to do tonight.
Your body is slowly beginning to realise.
That trying is simply unnecessary.
It becomes unnecessary.
And unnecessary things naturally just stop happening.
If a thought comes,
It's fine.
It just doesn't hold any weight anymore.
And if nothing comes,
That's fine too.
You're not aiming for silence,
You're just letting things become light enough to float away on their own.
And with that recognition,
We begin to come to an end.
You're allowed to stay here in this place.
With no effort and no finishing line.
Just less and less and less.
Until sleep doesn't feel like something you enter.
For something that just gently happens.
