Hello.
There are moments in life when everything changes so profoundly that the world we once knew no longer feels familiar.
Sometimes these changes happen gradually.
And sometimes.
All it takes is a single day.
One conversation,
A few words,
For life as we know it to be divided into a before and an after.
If you found this meditation today,
Chances are you're going through something like this yourself.
Perhaps you're facing an illness.
You've received a diagnosis you never imagined you'd hear or you've found yourself in circumstances you never chose and you could never have prepared for.
I'd like to invite you to spend the next few minutes here with me.
You don't need to change anything.
You don't need to become calmer,
Stronger or more confident.
You don't even need to try to feel better.
Just be here.
If you feel comfortable,
Gently close your eyes.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Whether you are sitting or lying down.
Notice where your body makes contact with it.
Feel the support beneath you.
You don't have to hold yourself up.
For now,
You can allow yourself to rest.
Bring your attention to your breathing.
There is no need to make it deeper or slower.
Just let your breath find its own natural rhythm today.
Breathe in.
.
.
And breathe out.
I can imagine how difficult things have been for you lately.
You've had to face a new reality,
Make decisions,
Wait for test results and adjust to changes in your own body.
Perhaps you are tired of talking about treatment,
Tired of answering questions,
Tired of having to explain how you are feeling over and over again.
Maybe it's difficult to see the people you love worrying about you.
To watch them trying to support you while hiding their own fears.
And sometimes you find yourself having to be strong not only for yourself,
But for the people you care about.
Or perhaps what you are most exhausted by is the uncertainty.
Not knowing what tomorrow might bring.
I'm not going to tell you that everything happens for a reason.
And I'm definitely not going to suggest that you look for some hidden blessing or lesson in what's happening to you.
Some things are simply unfair.
Some experiences are painful for you and for the people who love you.
For a moment,
Try to notice what feelings are present within you.
Perhaps there is fear.
Anger.
Resentment towards your own body.
Disappointment.
Sadness.
Or a sense of despair you've never shared with anyone.
Or perhaps today you don't feel much of anything at all.
And that's okay too.
Don't try to choose the right emotion.
There are no right or wrong feelings here.
If you are feeling angry,
Allow yourself to acknowledge it.
Yes,
I'm angry.
I didn't want this.
I didn't choose this.
I have every right to be upset about what's happening to me.
If you're feeling afraid.
Try to acknowledge that too.
Yes,
I'm scared.
I don't know what's going to happen next.
And I don't have to pretend I'm not afraid.
If you feel like crying,
It's okay to cry.
If you feel like being quiet.
It's okay to be quiet.
You don't need to protect the people around you from your feelings.
And you don't need to protect yourself from these feelings either.
Learning to recognize your feelings,
Name them and give them space is so important.
Right now.
You may be experiencing so many different,
Sometimes conflicting emotions that it's difficult to understand exactly what you're feeling.
And that's completely natural.
Try not to brush these feelings aside.
Don't rush to suppress them,
But don't let yourself become completely overwhelmed by them either.
If you can.
Allow yourself to express them.
Throat tears.
Through a conversation with someone you love or with a therapist.
Through words you've been wanting to say for a long time.
Or simply by being honest with yourself and admitting,
Yes,
This is really hard for me right now.
Your body is already going through so much.
You are dealing with an enormous amount of physical and emotional strain.
And you don't need to add another burden to all of that.
The constant effort of controlling your emotions,
Hiding them and pretending everything is fine.
At the same time.
It's important not to let these feelings consume you,
Pulling you back into fear,
Despair or grief again and again.
Right now,
There is something far more important that deserves your attention.
Taking care of yourself and your health.
You don't have to carry all of this inside you.
Allow yourself,
Little by little.
To make some room within yourself by letting go of what weighs you down.
Not so that you'll never feel fear,
Anger or sadness again.
But so there's still room inside you for other feelings too.
For peace.
For love.
For joy.
And for Hope.
All of these can become a source of support,
Helping you preserve your strength as you move through the difficult journey of treatment and recovery.
Stay with that thought for a little while.
And allow yourself to feel that there is still room for all these things in your life.
If you've managed to feel even a little peace,
Warmth or hope just now.
Try to hold on to that feeling.
And no matter how difficult things may be right now,
What matters most is accepting that this is where you are in your life at this moment.
For a while.
Your life is going to change.
It won't be the same as it was before.
But that doesn't necessarily mean it will be worse.
For a while.
It will simply be different.
This will probably be a challenging time,
One that asks a great deal of you.
And now is the time to direct your energy towards yourself.
Towards your health,
Your treatment,
Your recovery.
To try to maintain a positive outlook and hold on to the belief that better days are possible.
And this brings me to something I'd like to talk to you about.
Gratitude.
Because what could be more powerful than gratitude?
I understand how difficult it can be to find room for gratitude,
Especially when it feels as though there is absolutely nothing to be grateful for.
But let's try.
Of course,
I'm not talking about some spiritual idea of being grateful for your illness or for the hardships you never chose.
I'm talking about a different kind of gratitude.
Gratitude for what you still have.
For what remains in your life despite everything that's happening.
For the fact that you're still breathing.
For the fact that today you might still feel the warmth of sunlight,
See the light coming through your window or hear the voice of someone you love.
Perhaps you can take a few steps.
Or simply lie quietly and rest while life continues outside your window.
And you're still a part of that life.
You don't need to force yourself to feel grateful.
But if you can find even one small thing you'd like to say thank you for right now,
Allow yourself to do so.
If you've been able to find a sense of gratitude within yourself.
Try imagining it as a soft,
Warm,
Golden light.
Imagine a small glowing sphere of light somewhere inside you.
I feel it's warm.
Imagine that light slowly spreading throughout your body.
Warming you from within.
A soft,
Golden sound.
Beautiful light.
Let that warmth fill you.
And if you've been able to feel it.
Try to remember this sensation.
Keep it in your memory so that during the moments when things feel especially difficult you can find your way back to this inner warmth.
You can always return to it.
And if you haven't been able to feel that gratitude today,
That's completely okay too.
You can try again whenever you feel ready.
Just know that this light is real.
This inner energy hasn't gone anywhere.
Even when it's difficult to feel it.
It remains a part of you.
And now if you feel comfortable.
Place your hands over your heart.
Feel the warmth of your hands.
Feel your body.
And try to thank it.
For everything it's already been through.
For everything it does for you,
Every single day.
For continuing to be here with you.
Your body is your closest ally.
Your most faithful companion,
The one that has been with you since the very beginning of your life and will stay with you until the very end.
And right now,
It may be struggling more than anything else.
It needs your care,
Your love and your support.
Thank your body.
Feel it Try to treat it with tenderness and respect.
Because simply having this body is in itself something to be grateful for.
And before we finish.
There's one more thing I'd like to remind you of.
You don't need to know today how everything will turn out.
You don't need to feel certain about tomorrow.
But you do have today.
And there's still room in it for life,
For love,
For little moments of joy and for hope.
There may be still many challenges ahead,
But there may also be people you haven't met yet,
Things you haven't discovered,
Happy moments and beautiful days you can't even imagine right now.
And with all my heart,
I wish you strength,
Patience and recovery.
Take good care of yourself and remember,
Life goes on.
And we still have some living to do.
