Hi there,
My name is Bill and welcome to your 5-minute meditation.
Each 5-minute meditation is designed for people who just need a quick reset during their day,
To focus on themselves,
Take a breather and relax.
This 5-minute meditation is all about deadlines.
All of us,
At one time or another,
Has had to face the pressure of meeting a deadline.
Which seems particularly bad when you have to deal with teams that don't work well together,
Have a boss that is just this side of impossible,
Or even have a self-imposed deadline,
Making you feel as if you have no time to break away and simply enjoy just a breath here and there.
Well,
I'm here to tell you that it's okay to take a few minutes for yourself.
Why?
Because it's okay to.
You need it to regain your calm,
Your clarity and your confidence,
So you can move through to the end of your project and get rid of all the stress and anxiety about it.
So let's begin.
Find a place where you won't be disturbed.
Once there,
Find a comfortable position either lying down,
Sitting or standing.
Make sure to choose a posture where you will be as comfortable as possible.
Now relax your neck and shoulders,
Resting your arms by your side.
Close your eyes and take three cleansing breaths.
In and out.
Inhaling slowly through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
Controlling your breathing helps your body relax,
Calms your mind and settles your heart.
Notice how your chest rises and falls with each breath.
With each long exhalation,
Focus on leaving something from your chaotic day behind to clear space in your mind so you can relax.
If there are specific thoughts or worries that linger,
Bring them to your attention and hold on to them for just a minute.
Now,
Imagine there is a giant door in front of you.
As you take your next deep breath,
Open this big door.
At once,
You notice it's heavy.
You hold it open and as you exhale,
You walk through the door and close it behind you.
As you do this,
You will leave behind all the specific thoughts of stress and your worries and anxiety from the day.
The conversations with your boss,
Complaints from co-workers,
Office gossip,
Pressure from deadlines.
All of these worries and stressors from the day remain behind that closed door.
Breathe in and out slowly.
And because your stress and deadlines are behind this closed door,
You are now free,
Even for a few precious minutes,
To walk away from your workplace stress,
Allowing yourself to disconnect from your deadlines,
Giving yourself a much-needed respite and some much-needed self-care.
Breathe in and out slowly.
And as you do this,
Feel contentment and peace wash over you in your safe,
Safe space.
Taking these few minutes for yourself is a way to be kind to yourself.
You deserve that.
As you breathe in and out,
Use your breath to anchor yourself in the moment,
Knowing that this time is for you and you alone.
Remember,
Taking just a few minutes to recharge yourself is something you deserve to do for yourself,
Especially when the weight of the world seems particularly heavy.
And you can and should congratulate yourself for taking care of the most important person in your life,
You,
And taking all of your stress over deadlines and turning them into power and freedom.
Remember,
Wherever you are,
You're amazing and worthy of being free from anxiety.
And you are never alone.
Have a wonderful rest of your day or night,
And I extend my well wishes of healing and of peace to you.
Until next time,
Be well.
