Hey there,
Welcome to your practice.
Today we are going to be doing a visualization technique to ground down and replenish our bodies.
We will be tapping into the abundant energy of Earth.
This idea of connecting to Earth's energy is an ancient practice that was used in traditional Chinese medicine,
Ayurveda,
And by indigenous peoples.
Today,
It's commonly known as grounding or earthing.
It's long been known that Earth's energy is healing,
Nurturing,
And rejuvenating.
This visualization technique is one of my personal favorites and I'm really excited to share it with you today.
I recommend doing this outside,
But if that isn't accessible to you,
No worries.
Grab a chair or sit on the floor.
Whatever you have around you will work just fine.
Taking a moment now to find a comfortable position,
Making sure that your feet are flat against the ground beneath you.
You can choose to lay down,
But keep your knees bent.
Flat feet are important for our practice today.
I'll give you time to find a comfortable position.
And when you're ready.
Beginning to notice your breath.
Feeling your belly and chest expanding on the inhale.
And your body softening on the exhale.
And on your next exhale,
Closing your eyes if you feel called to do so.
If not,
That's totally fine.
Just keeping your eyes at a soft gaze.
Inhaling through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
One more time,
Deep inhale through the nose.
And exhale out through the mouth.
Really settling into your body.
Into the space around you,
The ground beneath you.
Feeling supported.
Bringing your attention to your feet.
Noticing that point of contact where your feet meet the ground.
Getting curious about this space.
Perhaps you feel blades of grass beneath your toes.
Maybe the ground is cool.
Are warm.
If you're inside.
What does the floor feel like?
Maybe it's the cool touch of hardwood.
Or the softness of carpet beneath your feet.
Bringing your attention.
To the sensation at the bottom of your feet.
Against the ground beneath you.
And from the bottom of your feet.
Beginning to imagine roots growing down into the soil beneath you.
If you aren't outside,
Imagining these roots traveling through the floor.
Through the concrete all the way until they reach earth's soil.
Imagining your roots continuing to grow downward,
Deep into the ground.
Anchoring you to the soil.
And maybe your mind has started to wander.
And that's okay.
That is what our minds are designed to do.
You're not doing it wrong.
Just simply noticing that you've gone somewhere else and bringing your attention back to this present moment.
Back to the sensation of your feet on the ground.
Visualizing those roots continuing to grow into the earth.
Maybe your roots are vast and wide,
Spreading like a network beneath you.
Or maybe it's just two.
One from each foot.
Visualizing your roots traveling through the many layers of earth.
And finally,
Your roots break through to the Earth's core.
Imagining a bright orange light.
Glowing at the center of the planet.
This orange light that glows.
This is Earth's energy.
Our life force.
Imagining Now.
That you begin to pull this energy up through your roots.
You see this orange light working its way up.
Passing through the many layers of earth.
Traveling up all of your roots.
Pulling this orange light up all the way to your feet.
And as the light meets your feet,
It begins to fill your body.
From your toes to your ankles.
From your ankles to the knees.
From your knees to your hips.
From your hips to your chest.
Down each arm all the way to your fingertips.
And finally,
Up to the crown of your head.
And if your mind has wandered,
Gently bringing yourself back.
Visualizing your entire body glowing,
Filled with this orange light.
You are deeply connected to Earth.
Deeply connected to our home.
Your home.
Really imagining this connection.
Seeing the orange light at the core of earth.
All the way up to the bottoms of your feet and your body filled.
Taking a moment to notice how your body feels,
How you feel.
Maybe you feel energized.
Maybe you feel calm and grounded.
Joyful or happy.
Or maybe none of these.
Whatever you are experiencing in this moment is meant for you.
Inhaling now,
Deeply through your nose.
And exhale out the mouth with an audible sigh.
One more time,
Inhaling through the nose.
And letting out a sigh.
And now,
Beginning to imagine pulling your roots back to your feet.
For me,
This looks like visualizing my roots slowly retracting through the soil.
And as your roots come back up.
They still carry Earth's energy,
That orange light.
Pulling your roots all the way back up to your feet.
Noticing the bottom of your feet.
Against the ground beneath you.
Noticing the sensation.
Any textures beneath your feet.
Whether it's cool or warm.
Noticing the sensation of being held.
Being supported.
Letting your body soften.
Relaxing into the ground.
Into your chair.
Or on the floor.
Noticing any sounds around you in your space.
Wiggling your fingers and your toes.
And lifting your arms overhead for a big stretch.
Inhaling as you reach your arms up.
And exhaling,
Letting it all go.
One more time,
Big stretch above your head.
And now bringing your palms together at your heart space.
We are going to seal our practice with gratitude.
Offering thanks to the earth.
For her ancient wisdom and energy.
Offering thanks to the ancestors that have passed this practice down through the generations so that we may practice today.
And lastly,
Thanking yourself for showing up today.
Inhaling And on your exhale,
Imagine sending out all of that thanks and gratitude.
And when you're ready,
Gently opening your eyes.
Coming back into your space.
This practice is always with you whenever you need to ground down.
Thank you for joining me today.
