Welcome to our contemplation today.
Take a deep breath and relax into the practice.
Become aware of the time you will spend today with the Lord in prayer and contemplation.
Take a moment to sit up straight on a comfortable chair.
Or in a position that feels comfortable on the ground.
Sit up straight,
But not overly erect.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Set an intention to remain in this position during this contemplation.
Even if you feel tired or distracted.
But remember,
If there is any extreme discomfort,
Please adjust yourself.
You may remember that the heart of Jesus,
From which blood and water came out,
Is central to Christian tradition and spirituality.
We may keep in mind that the heart symbolizes God's unconditional and all-inclusive love for all of us.
We are also called to live in His heart,
Full of joy,
Love,
And hope.
Gently close your eyes.
Breathe slowly.
Deeply.
Breathe one.
Three times.
Now imagine that you feel and see Jesus in front of you.
Jesus is sitting in front of you,
Looking at you with love.
His loving gaze is on you.
Let your mind rest on the feeling of being loved by Jesus.
You And now,
Take a moment to make a request to the Lord.
Lord,
Please give me the grace to be aware of God's mercy,
Compassion,
Forgiveness,
And kindness.
And repeat again.
Lord,
Please give me the grace to be aware of God's mercy,
Compassion,
Forgiveness.
And kindness.
Lord,
Please give me the grace to be aware of God's mercy,
Compassion,
Forgiveness.
And kindness.
Let us hear a reading from St.
John's Gospel.
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
At dawn,
He appeared again in the temple courts,
Where all the people gathered around him,
And he sat down to teach them.
The teachers of the law,
And the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery.
They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus,
Teacher,
This woman was caught in the act of adultery.
In the law,
Moses commanded us to stone such women.
Now what do you say?
They were using this question as a trap in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
They kept on questioning him,
He straightened up and said to them,
Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.
Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground,
At this,
Those who heard began to go away one at a time.
The older ones first.
Until only Jesus was left with the woman still standing there.
Jesus straightened up and asked her,
Woman,
Where are they?
Has no one condemned you?
No one,
Sir,
" she said.
Then neither do I condemn you,
" Jesus declared.
Go now and leave your life of sin.
Let us now rest with the presence of Jesus for a moment.
Remember that the Gospels say,
I desire mercy,
Not sacrifice.
And they say,
Be kind and compassionate to one another,
Forgiving each other,
Just as in Christ God forgave you.
And now,
Take a moment to feel your heart.
In silence.
Experience any emotions that may arise.
You may experience forgiveness,
Joy,
Hope,
Love.
Remind yourself that God unconditionally forgives.
And accepts who you are.
Now,
Make an offering of yourself to the Lord and request Jesus to accept you.
Ask Jesus to come and live in your heart.
Then give yourself to Him to live in His heart.
You you Let us pray.
Jesus.
Come and live in my heart.
Jesus,
I give myself to live in your heart.
Jesus.
Come and live in my heart.
Jesus.
I give myself to live in your heart.
Jesus,
Come and live in my heart.
Jesus,
I give myself to live in your heart.
Thank you,
Jesus,
For the graces you have given me in this contemplation today.
Let us end with the Lord's Prayer.
Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil.
Now get up slowly.
Remain in the mood of prayer for some more minutes and write down the main experiences,
Insights,
Or questions in your notebook.
