Welcome to Menopause Taylor on Insight Timer. I'm Dr. Barbara Taylor, A gynecologist on a mission to give women the menopause education they need. My education is called your education. Menopause your way. So what do I mean by that? Well, There are really. . . Four parts to this. Each word of the title. Is significant. The first word is your. You see? Women. Are not. Robot. No to women. Our life. Instead of being identical women. We are more like him. We're all so different in so many ways. I think all menopausal women should think twice. Like this. It's a button that says it's all about me. You should be wearing it. So menopause is a very individual thing. That's why the first word is your. Well, The second word is menopause. By definition, Menopause is when you lose your female hormone estradiol. Well, Estradiol performs specific functions in your body. It enabled you to reproduce and it functioned as your fountain of youth. No other hormone performs the job of estradiol. So loss of your estradiol at the time of menopause. Put you on the path to rapid aging on both the inside and the outside. Of your body. You see and feel the outside aging. It manifests as symptoms that make you feel very uncomfortable. But you do not see and feel the inside aging. It manifests as three diseases that are all silent until deadly. They are heart attack, Osteoporosis, And Alzheimer's disease. So Menopause! Is a hormone deficiency. That lasts for the rest of your life. And the name of the deficient hormone is estradiol. Well, The third word in the title is the word, You're, Again. But this time it refers to something other than you. Personally. This time it refers to your. Preferences. In other words, There are different ways of managing menopause. And this word implies that you get to choose your way. You do not have to manage your menopause someone else's way. As a menopause educator, I present all the different ways of managing menopause. I do not encourage you to manage your menopause my way. A menopause marketer will present only their way of managing menopause. They will coerce you to manage your menopause their way. And our fourth word in the title is the word way. This refers to all of your options for menopause management, And they include diet, Lifestyle, Exercise, Vitamins, Minerals, And supplements, Herbs, Hormone replacement, Non-hormonal medications, Mechanical options, Acupuncture, And hypnosis. So as you can see, There's quite literally a smorgasbord of options for menopause management. So why does this matter? Why am I so careful to teach you about your menopause? Your way. Well, It matters because not all options are created equal in terms of your success. And as an educator, I ensure that you know how they differ. And their differences boil down to two things. Your goals, And your balancing act. The very first thing you need to do is designate your goals. Do you merely want to alleviate symptoms or do you want to prevent the three fatal diseases? It is much easier to alleviate symptoms than it is to prevent diseases. And then, Once you have designated your goals. . . You need to accept the fact that for every option available to you, There are some things that it can do. And there are some things that it cannot do. So this is what constitutes trade-offs. For every management option, There will be trade-offs. And knowing those trade-offs empowers you to choose what's right for you. So the second thing you need to do is your balancing act. Your balancing act entails balancing. Your benefits. Against your risk. And just as no two women are alike, No two balancing acts. Are alike. No matter what, There will always be trade-offs. There will be some benefits as well as some risks, No matter how you manage your menopause. The goal. Of menopause management is to maximize your benefits. And minimize. Your wrists. But we do not all have the same benefits and risks. So this is where the word your comes in again. Even the weight for various benefits and risks will differ from one woman to another. One woman might have these. And another one might have these risks. And face it. We don't even all have the same risk tolerance. Some people do risky things and other people do not. So there are going to be trade-offs no matter how you choose to manage your menopause. A hormone is a hormone. Food is food. Exercise is exercise. They do not do one another's jobs. Anything can do something. But the only thing that can do everything. Is the real thing. Estradiol. So with the title, Your Menopause, Your Way. My goal is to give you an education that enables you to choose the menopause management that is right for you. There will never be anything that is right for all women. And you should never manage your menopause someone else's way. I'll help you manage your menopause any way you wish, But I'll always make sure you know your trade-offs. So don't fall prey to anybody who tries to make you manage your menopause their way. All the decisions should be yours. And that's why I'm telling you this here on Insight Timer. Bye.
