Have you ever thought about the history of menopause?
I mean,
Menopause isn't something new.
And it's not something we've recently discovered.
It's been around for a very long time.
But what hasn't been around for a long time is our long lifespans.
You see,
People used to die at very young ages.
Back in the 1800s,
It was rare for a woman to live long enough to ever become menopausal.
So,
From the time of the Roman Empire until the 1800s,
Nobody knew that menopause even existed.
But then.
.
.
In the 1800s,
Which is right about.
.
.
Here.
There would be a woman here or there just once in a while who did live long enough to experience symptoms of menopause.
Oh my.
And guess what happened to those women?
Everyone thought they were going crazy and institutionalized them in asylums for the insane.
Society labeled them as having hysterical.
.
.
Behavior.
But by 1900,
Lots of women started living long enough to become menopausal.
The average lifespan lasted beyond what we now consider middle age.
And that's when medical professionals realized that menopausals really do to estrogen deficiency.
So that's when we started making some progress.
So now we can add progress.
And so we knew.
That it was estrogen deficiency.
That cause menopause.
And by the mid-1900s,
We realized that estrogen replacement was the key to femininity and sexuality.
And then by the late 1900s,
Medical professionals realized that estrogen replacement served the purpose of preventing diseases.
Also.
.
.
In 1995,
Researchers decided to do a study to prove whether or not estrogen replacement prevented diseases,
Even though there was already absolute proof.
Good to do it.
They started a study called the Women's.
.
.
Initiative.
W H I And that study lasted for approximately six years.
And what do you know?
It created a great big stir by claiming that estrogen replacement caused diseases.
And overnight.
Everybody stop!
Taking estrogen replacement.
That's when women everywhere flushed their HRT down the toilet.
It was the flush heard round the world.
And guess what?
That's where we've been.
Ever since.
Are stuck.
And the reason I'm here giving you this menopause lesson is because.
.
.
We get to determine the future.
And A menopause education changes everything.
It enables you to manage your menopause your way.
Where do we go from here?
