Hi,
And welcome to this overwhelm relief meditation.
I am Maria and I will be your guide.
You can start by finding a comfortable position where you can sit or lie down and stand still in peace for a few minutes.
And you can close your eyes.
You can settle into your position.
And feel your body for a second.
You can notice how your back feels against the back of the chair or your bed.
A sofa or even the floor.
Then notice your legs and how they sustain the body,
How relaxed they feel.
And breathe deeply for a few moments.
A deep,
Slow in-breath and a long out breath through your mouth.
Emptying all the air you have inside of you.
And you can repeat this breath four more times.
Breathing in.
Deep and slowly.
And breathing out.
Releasing all the air through your mouth In.
.
.
Deep and slowly.
Out releasing all the air through the mouth and out.
And one last time long,
Deep and slow in-breath and a long,
Refreshing out breath.
When you're feeling overwhelmed,
It helps to pause and sit with this sensation for a while.
Addressing the inner storm and sitting with it.
With kindness and compassion.
You can put your hand on your chest as you breathe.
And as you sit with your overwhelming feelings trying to be compassionate with yourself.
With one hand or both.
On your chest Try to welcome your feelings.
And you can say to yourself I feel overwhelmed.
I know that I am overwhelmed.
I am in pain I know that I am in pain.
I acknowledge my pain.
My overwhelm.
There is something inside of me that is speaking to me.
And I will listen.
With kindness.
Love and compassion.
And as you say these words to yourself.
.
.
You can take deep and long breaths.
Breathing deeply from the nose.
And releasing the air from your mouth.
Breathing deeply from the nose.
And releasing the air from your mouth.
As you continue to breathe with your overwhelmed body.
With your pain.
You can also say to yourself.
.
.
I sit with my overwhelming feelings.
I welcome them.
Touching my chest,
I greet my feelings.
Hello overwhelming feelings.
Hello pain.
I know you're there.
I feel you.
I know you're trying to tell me something,
And I will listen.
I may not know what it is yet.
But I will stay quiet and allow you to be.
I breathe in deeply and I breathe out deeply with you,
My pain.
It's ok to feel this that I am feeling and I breathe with it.
I know that there is suffering.
And I am here to be with it.
To be with my suffering.
To soothe it.
And once again,
As you say these words to yourself.
Take deep and long breaths.
Breathing from the nose.
And releasing all the air from your mouth.
And welcome any emotions that come up as you say and feel these words.
In meditation,
When we are overwhelmed,
We can sit and breathe with ourselves our pain,
Our difficulties.
And we can remember that we have the capacity to pause and take some moments to be with our emotions.
We all have this capacity inside of us and we can transform this moment and face our challenges with a new light.
With a new calmness.
As you bring your awareness back to the present moment.
You can return to the natural pace of your breath.
And you can do a slow and gentle stretch.
And when you are ready,
You can open your eyes.
