Welcome,
Dear soul.
The next full moon rises in Taurus,
The sign of the bull.
And across the sky opposing her,
The sun shines from Scorpio.
Every full moon is a meeting.
The sun on one side,
The moon on the other,
Each reflecting and receiving light.
A relationship written in the sky.
My sun sign is Antorus.
My mom's was in Scorpio.
And when I gaze upon this full moon,
I see the two of us.
She,
Headstrong and brilliant,
Fire beneath the water,
Ready to sting.
A mother you learn to approach with care because a win was never promised.
A mother who loved so deeply,
So protectively,
She was often misunderstood.
Her beautiful voice,
Not always heard.
And me,
The bull,
Sure-footed,
Steady,
And always,
Always aware.
This full moon also arrives on the eve of October 26th,
The anniversary of my mom's passing.
And so this opposition in the sky feels like a soulful message,
A message of relationship.
A meditative message for all who at times feel challenged by relationships.
Maybe it is or was your mother.
Maybe it is a friend,
A parent,
A partner,
A child.
Two souls opposing one another.
Someone who you both love dearly and feel challenged by.
Someone you love that at times you find hard to meet.
Perhaps your signs are opposing in the sky as well.
This meditation is for you.
For the moments your heart wants to speak its truth and your voice feels too small for the room.
Tonight,
We let the sky show us another way to stand.
Let us stand in our voices and journey together now.
Find a comfortable place to listen,
Sitting or laying down,
Supported by the surface you have chosen.
Allow your eyes to gently close.
Breathe in slowly.
Feeling your belly,
Your ribs,
Your chest.
And release.
All the way down.
Again,
Breathing in.
And letting go.
Allow the day to drift away from your shoulders.
Just like autumn leaves loosening from the branch.
One by one,
They fall and release.
Here,
There is only breath.
Only this moment.
Only you.
Here in this moment.
You are held.
You are seen.
And you are heard.
Imagine yourself now in a wide meadow under the full moon.
The grass is silver with moonlight.
The air is cool and sweet with the scent of late autumn.
That earth beneath your feet is soft and dark,
Rich with all the seasons it has held.
Standing also at the edge of the meadow is a great white bull.
Her breath rises in clouds in the cold night air.
Your eyes are deep and calm.
She watches you,
Unhurried.
The sky watchers of old honored the bull as sacred.
She carried the strength of the earth itself,
The patience of stone,
The fertility of fields.
She belonged to Venus,
Goddess of love,
Of beauty,
Of all that is held dear.
Walk slowly toward her now.
Feel each step pressing gently into the earth.
When you reach her,
Rest your hand on her warm side.
Feel the slow,
Steady rise and fall of her breath.
Allow your breath to fall into rhythm with hers.
Slow.
And tea.
And sure.
Now feel roots reaching down from the soles of your feet.
Down through the soil,
Past stones and seeds and the sleeping roots of trees.
Down,
Down into the warm heart of the earth.
This is the Pulse Gift.
She stands.
She stays.
Her strength lives in her stillness.
Taurus also holds the throat.
The sacred place where your voice is born.
Bring your awareness there now.
Allow your throat to soften.
To alarm.
Open like a bell waiting to be rung.
Your voice lives here.
Rooted in Mother Earth,
Warm with the breath of the bull.
Yours to be sung.
Now turn and look across the meadow.
At the far edge you notice a still,
Dark pool.
The full moon floats on its surface.
And beneath it The water goes down and down.
Deeper than any eye can follow.
This is Scorpio's Home.
Water that keeps its secrets.
Water that sees all the way through you.
At the edge of the pool,
A scorpion waits on a smooth black stone.
Her tail is raised.
Her body is still.
She is fully alert.
Fire beneath the water.
Ready to sting.
If she must.
Feel what rises in you meeting her.
Perhaps a tightening.
A memory.
Maybe a face you know.
Allow that to be here.
Breathe with it.
Drawing on ancient wisdom,
Mystics knew Scorpio in three forms.
As the scorpion who stings to protect what she loves.
As the eagle who rises high above the battle and sees the whole of the land below.
And as the phoenix who passes through the fire and is born again from the ashes.
The one who challenges you carries all three.
And so do you.
Watch the scorpion now in the moonlight.
Beneath the armor.
Beneath the raised tail.
She is guarding something tender.
Something precious,
Hidden in the depths.
Tonight the sun and moon stand opposing one another across the sky.
Earth and Water.
The meadow and the deep.
Two fixed signs,
Each one certain,
Each one holding her ground.
Bring to mind now the person who challenges you.
See them standing across the meadow.
At the edge of the dark pool.
You on the earth.
They by the water.
Grandmother Moon shining on you both.
Notice how you stand.
Feel the bowl holding Grandmother Moon within you.
Share.
Steady.
Aware.
There is no need to charge.
No need to retreat.
Simply stand,
Rooted,
And see them.
Now look to the dark pool once more.
The scorpion's tail has lowered.
And in the moonlight,
You can see what she has been guarding all this time.
She has been guarding love.
A love so deep,
So protective,
It learned to wear armor.
A tender heart waiting to be understood.
Look again at the one across the middle.
In the moonlight,
The face of the other becomes a mirror.
Their fire shows you your own strength.
Your steadiness shows them a place to rest.
And soul's reminder.
That every relationship is two souls learning one song.
Know in this place and time.
That your soul stands for truth and for love.
And it speaks through your human voice.
Facing one who challenges you,
Your voice can feel small.
Like a single voice against a great wind.
Yet here the bull answers with stillness.
She stands.
She holds her ground in love She keeps singing.
Rest one hand at your throat and one over your heart.
Your throat rooted in the earth of Taurus.
Your heart holding love as deep as Scorpio's waters.
Here truth and love meet,
Here in you.
Every voice offered in love is heard.
Your soul,
Your song of uniting love.
As above,
So below.
As within.
So without.
Now allow the full moonlight to pour down over the meadow.
Over the bowl,
Over the dark pool.
Over the scorpion on her stone.
Over the one who challenges you and over you.
Feel the moonlight washing through your crown,
Your throat,
Your heart.
All the way down through your roots and into Mother Earth.
Breathe it in.
And whisper.
I stand in love.
I speak in truth.
My voice is heard.
Hear and know your voice in the stillness.
Slowly allow the metal to soften around you.
Give thanks to the bull,
To the scorpion.
Of the waters and the earth.
Feel gratitude for an awareness in approaching those that challenge us.
Begin now to feel the weight of your body again.
The breath moving through you,
The ground beneath you,
Steady and sure.
Carry the bull's steady heart with you,
Rooted in the meadow,
Open to the depths.
Singing your truth in love.
Your voice now heard.
Now standing.
When you are ready,
Allow your eyes to open softly.
Into the light of this full moon.
Go gently.
Dear soul.
