Welcome,
Dear soul.
The next full moon is in Pisces,
And she carries with her a partial lunar eclipse,
Arriving on August 27th.
Before I begin this next moon meditation,
I want to share something with you.
Just a few days ago,
A bird hit the window of our home.
When I found it on my deck,
It was clear it had passed.
I held it gently and laid it down in the soil at the base of my potted strawberry plant,
Nestled among the roots,
Among the ripening fruit.
Later that same day,
On our outside shed,
I noticed a dragonfly.
Suspended on a rope,
Motionless,
Caught mid-flight.
A creature that begins its life beneath the water.
Now gone still in the air.
Two small passings,
Two winged beings.
And something about them together unsettled me in a way I wasn't ready to speak about.
So I held it quietly.
Was it a message of something ominous?
Or was it a message for me to open my heart to?
A few days later,
I remembered the two passings in return.
To gather the bird to bury and to possibly save the dragonfly in its form.
I reached first to the base of the strawberry plant.
No feathers,
No sign that anything had carried it away.
Just the space where I had laid the bird.
And the dragonfly.
Also gone.
Nothing left behind.
Both had vanished completely.
Silently.
As though they had simply disappeared.
Crossed over.
I couldn't help but feel in the days before the spices eclipse.
That something was being shown to me.
That these quiet disappearances,
This passage without a trace,
Meant something.
That the veil between this world and whatever lies beyond was already thinning.
Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac,
The threshold where the soul releases its hold on the known world and returns to the source.
And in a lunar eclipse,
The Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon.
Our own shadow falls across the light.
We are the ones who stand between the seen and the unseen.
So with all of this in my heart,
Listening to the messages of the winged creatures.
I invite you now to gently close your eyes.
And let us tune in together.
To what is being whispered to us from the other side of the veil.
Take a slow breath in and let it go.
Allow your body to soften.
Feel yourself held by your chair,
By your bed,
By the ground beneath you.
You are here.
You are safe.
And you are listened to.
Now,
With your eyes closed,
Imagine the moon rising.
Full and luminous,
Low on the horizon,
Casting silver across the water.
She is whole tonight.
Complete.
And slowly,
So slowly,
A shadow begins to move across her face.
Not darkness,
Not absence,
Just a dimming.
A softening.
As though the Earth herself is drawing a veil across the light.
This is what an eclipse is.
The earth,
Our home,
Our body,
This place where we live and grieve and love moves between the sun and the moon.
And our own shadow touches what we long to see clearly.
Yet even in shadow,
The light does not vanish.
It bends.
It travels through the edges of everything we are,
Our sorrow,
Our wonder,
Our not knowing.
And the light arrives,
Changed,
Softened,
Carrying the color of our passage.
Pisces is the sign of two fish swimming in opposite directions.
One toward life,
One toward what lies beyond,
Yet bound together by a single cord.
The cord that is soul.
Holding both journeys at once.
The reaching forward into the world and the quiet pullback towards source,
Towards something mystical.
Tonight in this eclipse,
You may feel that pull.
The tug between holding on and letting go.
Between the life you are living and the mystery that lives beneath it.
Here,
Now,
Consider the dragonfly.
She begins her life in water,
In the dark,
In the deep,
In the silence beneath the surface.
For months,
Sometimes years,
She lives as a nymph.
Breathing through the water.
Knowing nothing of the sky.
And then one day,
She breaks the surface.
She climbs toward the light.
And something in her splits open.
And wings emerge.
She rises into the air and becomes a creature of flight,
Of shimmer,
Of light moving through color.
She has crossed from one world into another.
She has died to what she was and become what she could only have imagined.
This is what Pisces knows,
That every ending is also a beginning the soul hasn't yet learned to see.
That the crossing between worlds is not a loss.
It is a transformation so complete that nothing of the old form remains.
So I ask you now,
Gently,
What have you been holding?
What small,
Strange knowing arrived in your life?
In a dream?
At a window?
In the corner of an ordinary day that you weren't quite ready to speak about.
That you weren't quite ready to hear its message.
You don't need to name it.
You don't need to understand it.
Just allow it to be here.
The way the nymph rests in the dark water before she knows what she is becoming.
Pisces doesn't ask for answers.
Pisces asks for surrender.
Or the willingness to say.
I witnessed something I cannot explain.
And I am letting it move through me.
I am trusting the cord that holds both fish.
I am trusting the crossing.
And now feel the shadow begin to pass.
The light is returning to the moon.
Gently,
Slowly,
The way it always does.
The way morning follows the longest night.
The way breath returns after the deepest exhale.
Nothing was lost.
Nothing was taken.
Something simply crossed.
And the crossing was so quiet,
So complete.
That the only proof is the tenderness you feel in its wake.
Let the ones who have gone go fully.
But the space they left be sacred.
Let the absence be its own kind of knowing,
That the veil is thin.
That the passage is real.
That love does not require a body to endure.
The shadow has passed down.
The moon is full again.
Luminous.
Full.
And she has always been whole.
Even when you couldn't see her clearly.
Even in the shadow she was there.
And so are you.
Begin to feel your breath again.
Feel the warmth of your hands.
Feel yourself arriving back.
Here in your body.
In this room,
In this moment.
The world is still growing around the spaces where something crossed over.
The fruit is still ripening.
The air is still warm.
And you,
You who paused long enough to listen.
You who trusted the whisper at the veil.
You are more open now than you were before.
Trust what you cannot see.
Honor what has crossed.
And know that the light always,
Always finds its way through.
When you are ready.
Blink open your eyes.
Go gently.
Dear soul,
