Hi awesome ones,

It's Krista.

I would love to do some chatting about action,

About actually doing the doing.

One of the things that we tend to,

In my opinion,

Over-focus on is this idea of goals and goal setting with very clear timelines and very stringent action steps.

And oftentimes that kind of structure,

While in some ways can be helpful because it gives us a blueprint,

A map,

Some guideposts,

It can also become a structure that actually impedes our organic process,

Our ebb and flow,

Our natural cycles with our own cycles of creativity of energy.

And we've talked a bit about getting outside of the box of our routine or tuning into very clear mindful aligned routine and the differences between those two experiences.

If you find you're giving away your power,

Then that's a time to tune in and notice that that structure,

That goal setting,

That timeline,

That action step list of exactly how to accomplish what you're seeking to accomplish is holding you back rather than moving you more efficiently and effectively forward.

And one of the things about doing the doing that is fascinating is you start to actually feel the earth move under your feet.

It's like as you start to move through the world,

Just by nature of moving through the world,

You feel like you're making progress.

You feel like even if you're moving in a direction that you weren't expecting,

You're moving.

And certainly it can be taking you in the wrong direction.

Ultimately though,

What is wrong or right?

We want to tune in about what is aligned and where our flow is.

And so oftentimes what can take us in what feels like a direction or toward a focus that's not in the action step list can actually bring us to a more creative,

Sometimes even more playful,

Buoyant place that allows us to open our mind to other ways to achieve those goals or to move in the direction of a vision rather than just ticking goals off the list.

Ultimately knowing what that vision is allows for the creativity of noticing that a practice that you didn't expect to align with your progress actually aligns.

And I think about for me,

A great example is this idea of as a writer sitting down to write and you put your booty in the seat,

You get in front of the keyboard and that kind of structure is certainly important.

And yet at the same time,

If my day or my week aligns in such a way that another exciting project shows itself during my writing time,

I owe it to myself to listen to the momentum of my vision,

To listen to the alignment of my vision and allow myself that other creative opportunity,

Whether it's recording or being on a podcast or creating a piece of art that's aligned with the work that I'm writing,

And then take that inspiration and channel that into the next time I'm writing and not allowing my writing structure to inhibit me from taking on these other creative,

Juicy,

Aligned,

Sustaining practices.

So again,

Not letting our structure get in the way of our own power.

And one of the ways I love to do that is ask myself the question,

Why not now?

Why not now?

Certainly if the structure gets in the way,

I want to make this collage right now because I'm being called to this really intense,

Fiery drive to create a piece of art,

But it's my writing time.

So I ask myself the question,

Why not now?

Oh,

Well,

It's my writing time.

Well,

I'm not going to hand my power over to it's my writing time.

Therefore,

I'm not going to listen to what my spirit,

What my energy is aligned to do in that moment.

I'm going to show up in the now and I'm going to create and listen to that.

Even within the realistic constraints of my life,

I'm going to listen to that.

And so when I accept that premise,

That question,

Why not now,

As a valid exploration in being the experiment,

Sometimes I say,

Well,

Now is perfect.

Absolutely.

I'm ready to do this right now.

And I go after it and I own my power and I realign with my writing time another time.

And I have that sustenance from the creation of the art to now channel in to my writing.

The trickier part is when you ask that question,

Why not now?

And there are so many excuses that show up.

That's the tricky part.

All of those excuses,

Ways that we hand our power over to circumstance.

Why not now?

Oh,

I actually have a lot more to do this evening and I don't want to get all messy from doing my art.

So I'd rather just stay nice and clean and not bother with having to get myself together to see clients.

Okay,

Sure.

Excuses,

Excuses,

Excuses.

There are excuses all over the place.

Some of those excuses are based on valid facts without question.

Don't let your own power get siphoned off by excuses in that if there's a valid reason,

A factual reason that you are not going to step into whatever it is that's aligned right now,

Then that's perfectly fine.

Own that choice and still recognize the fact that what you are asking about in why not now is important to you.

Whatever that action was that you're saying to yourself,

Why not now is aligned for you.

It's in line with your values.

It's something you want to do.

It's something that is connected to following your excitement.

So losing that examination and that wisdom of the value behind the creation can get really tied up in this idea of excuses.

So we really have to be honest with ourselves.

Why not now?

And if this list of excuses shows up,

We really have to look in the mirror of self.

We have to notice that a lot of excuses are simply mirrors to our fear,

Mirrors of our fear.

Why not now?

Oh,

Well,

I don't have the time or I don't have the energy.

I don't have the space.

I don't have the money.

Okay.

Well,

Notice what those types of excuses can do.

First and foremost,

They disempower us.

They put us into a scarcity mindset and they also put us face to face with the fear that may be behind those excuses if we dive deeper and examine.

And it's especially tricky if those excuses are indeed valid facts.

I don't necessarily have the money to invest in that opportunity right now.

I don't have the time right in this moment because I need to make dinner for my family.

All of those are real and yet if that urge,

If that calling to create is still there,

Then we have to look deeper into even the most valid of excuses as mirrors to our fear.

So on one hand,

We might have this noticing of I don't have the time or the money to step into this creating and yet if it really was something we were called to do,

We would look deeper and notice that behind that scarcity might be something deeper.

Fear of failure,

Fear of noticing your own power when you actually get outside of your excuses and step into action,

Step into doing the doing.

Certainly the trickiest part is taking that time to really be honest with yourself,

To really countenance and focus on is this what I truly want?

Is this truly aligned for me?

Is this truly connected to my values and the gifts,

The unique gifts I give to the universe in this lifetime?

Then that pull,

Allowing that pull,

That drive,

That calling to become irresistible is a strategy you can use to step into arm wrestling with those excuses.

There are certainly again some valid factual pieces of information about our life that sometimes can feel non-negotiable and yet that's an invitation into creativity.

If I don't have the financial resources to invest in an art piece,

I will make it with found objects.

If I don't have the time to invest an hour into creation,

How can I break down that creation into five minute increments?

Just as an experiment,

Just playing with it,

Just to see what happens.

If we let that irresistibility of that calling to move us,

We can bring in some playful doing the doing for sure.

When you're doing the doing,

When you feel that movement,

That momentum and allow it to carry you and to have fun with it,

We notice how powerful we are.

Wow,

Yeah,

Look what I can get done in five minute increments.

Who knew?

Yeah,

Look how cool this piece of art is that I made completely from found objects from my recycling bin.

It really became exactly what I envisioned because I allowed myself to get deeply,

Deeply creative beyond what it was that I thought it should look like with all of those expensive art products,

Art supplies.

So that's a big instead.

That's a big instead that I invite you into is being the experiment when it comes to those excuses,

Looking those excuses in the eye.

It's just you.

It's you in there.

It's you in there countenancing you,

Looking at you,

Talking to you.

It's you against you in that way,

But in fact,

It's really not you against you.

If you turn those,

That voice of excuse into being an ally,

If we look at that deeper fear and say,

Oh yeah,

I see you.

I see you self in that fear of failure.

I see you in that intimidation to use your voice.

I see you in that wanting to channel abundance rather than scarcity.

Getting outside of those excuses is a powerful,

Powerful devotion to self and only in doing the doing can we feel that power when we sit in the non-doing.

Well,

We'll never know.

So I offer the question that I love and also have to sometimes grit my teeth through,

Why not now?

I invite you to ask yourself,

Play with it.

Notice what comes up.

Answer yourself honestly.

Channel compassion and love to those fear voices.

Make that fear your ally in creativity.

Why not now?

Play with it.

Alright,

Awesome ones.

Big love.

Rock on.
