Hi there,

Awesome ones.

It's Krista.

I would love to talk today about finding your edge.

We have probably touched upon this in multiple topics,

And I want to zoom out.

I want to zoom out to talk about what that means to find your edge,

And why the intentional practice of seeking that space,

That place where we start to feel uncomfortable,

We start to feel like we have need to learn new skills,

We start to feel a little bit like we're standing on precarious ground is important.

What I'll ultimately say is part of the reason it's important is it keeps our blood flowing,

Keeps us exhilarated,

Keeps us in that space of remembering that our true nature is to be expansive,

That mundane routine that's unexamined has a tendency to constrict us,

Has a tendency to lull us into an idea of comfort and control that's not real.

We live with constant uncertainty,

And if we harness that,

If we play with that,

If we are our own experiment and notice that uncertainty is a gift,

That pushing our edge and finding our edge becomes an exhilarating practice.

It becomes something that seeps into who we are and how we function in the world,

And it's not something that is separate from us or that we employ or put on like a garment occasionally,

That ultimately it is who we are,

That we're always asking,

Where else can I learn?

What else can I expand?

How else can I put myself in a very intentional,

Uncomfortable situation or position or circumstance?

For the purpose of expanding what it is I'm capable of and what it is I am comfortable with and well versed at doing.

We've all had this experience.

The very fundamental experience I remember from childhood is the idea of riding a bike.

You get on that bike and you think,

Oh my gosh,

I don't know.

I can't,

You know,

With the training wheels off.

It's almost cliche,

And yet at the same time,

It's such a perfect encompassing of exactly what that idea of finding your edge or pushing your edge can look and feel like.

As we settle into the day-to-day of our lives,

We can often forget that that exhilaration exists if we choose to take it out for a spin.

Ultimately,

Your edge is where your potential meets your fear.

So if we think about it in that context,

That fear being this presence that attempts to constrict us,

That oftentimes when we really look that fear in the eyes,

When we really understand what's happening emotionally when we are pushing our edge,

It's the ego.

It's the ego attempting to keep us small,

Saying,

No,

Don't do that.

Don't do what you don't normally do.

Don't get outside of your routine.

Just stay in the comfort.

Stay in what you know because you don't want to fail.

You don't want to look silly.

You don't want to look like you have something to say that someone might feel emotions about or disagree with you about.

Ultimately,

Though,

That's what we're here to do.

We're here to push that edge,

To be expansive,

And to look that fear in the eye,

Again,

With intention.

We're not randomly making these choices without seeking our true desires and our true wants and pushing our edge in that direction.

That fear is that ego trying to keep us small.

When we're in that space,

It's very easy to get lulled into the false concept that if we stay in that constricted space,

If we stay small,

That the uncertainty of life isn't going to reach out and tap us on the shoulder with something unexpected.

We're not keeping ourselves safe.

We're not in control of the uncertainty of life circumstances.

Why not flip the script and harness that experience,

Harness pushing your edge for your own excitement,

Exhilaration,

And benefit?

What I will offer about pushing your edge is it's unique to you.

We see on socials,

We see folks jumping out of planes or taking that big global trip or expanding their family and jumping into the uncertainty of another child or seeking out that job they may not be qualified for or starting their own company,

Starting your own gig,

Getting on a stage for the first time.

We do see that happening around us.

Oftentimes,

What can happen in that moment is a little bit of projection of that ego keeping us small.

Oh,

Look at them.

Why are we having to watch this person on a stage?

Or,

Oh,

Yeah,

Of course they jumped out of a plane.

Jumping out of planes,

No big deal.

Our ego shows up to appease us,

To pat us nicely on the head and say,

No,

No,

You stay right there.

You stay in your comfortable little bubble,

Pretending that the uncertainty of life is not going to reach out and tap you on the shoulder someday.

And what I offer is watching others reach for their edge in that way is a great indicator of noticing where we are in that,

Where our ego is showing up is a reminder that we can push against that and ask our ego to step aside and say,

No,

You know what?

I am excited by watching this friend do something really cool and exciting.

I want to give that a try.

I want to take that for a spin.

And it's about tuning into your why,

What it is that you want to risk,

What it is that you want to dare that is unique to you.

I've got to offer,

I don't really want to jump out of a plane right now.

Not today,

Not yesterday.

I'm not going to say never,

But it's not moving to me because it's not a way that I want to push my edge,

But a way that I do love to push my edge is creating art and creating art that has a political statement behind it.

And that to me feels incredibly exhilarating.

Frankly,

It doesn't mean much to other people around.

It really is an experience where there's,

It seems like there's not a lot of risk,

But for me,

That creation pings my exhilaration in a unique way.

And so I offer those two as examples to you to just notice right now as you're listening,

What are those things,

Those experiences that in your quiet moments you think,

Gosh,

Yeah,

That's something I want to make sure happens while I'm still here on this earth.

And being able to understand what it is that's unique to you that really motivates you to push your edge is an important piece of the puzzle because random willy nilly experiences don't feed us,

Don't sustain us,

Don't align with us in the same way that something deeply personal,

Something that really,

Again,

In those quiet still moments when you think about that one risk you want to take or that one thing you want to dare yourself to do,

That you don't have to make it all happen all at once.

But when you're motivated by it,

When it's truly who you are and the way you want to push your edge,

Again,

It may not speak to other people,

But it's an experience for you.

And so owning that as that's exactly the way that you want to push your edge,

That it has meaning behind it,

There might even be that deeper why.

For me,

When I think about creating collage art or even performance art is the why for me is to share my voice.

The why for me is to encourage myself to do some organization and questioning of my own creative choices.

And that serves me in other parts of my existence.

And so it's important to me that why that it's not just about checking something off a list.

It's not about optics.

It's about this feeds my spirit.

This comes from my heart.

And it's worth the risk and the dare of staring my fear in the eye,

Which again is mostly in this case,

Just that fear of failure,

Ego keeping me small.

And as I reflect on that,

I invite you into your own reflections about what it is unique to you that really motivates you to consider pushing your edge and also what that unique fear and what that unique ego response might be for you.

So I offer that as an examination,

As you think about that idea of pushing that edge where your potential meets your fear.

I'd love to offer a few other musings for you to consider about finding your edge.

I'd love for you to notice that every choice you make shapes the world.

You'll hear me say that a lot.

Every choice you make shapes the world.

Every choice you make shapes your specific reality as well.

You got up in the morning,

You decided to hit the button on this particular musing.

And don't take that lightly.

That's aligned.

That's a synchronicity for you.

That's a little poke,

A little goad for you to notice that what may be that restlessness,

That bit of feeling that you've been noticing to just tune in to that next level of experience.

It's both exhilarating and that fear inducing aspect that is for you to harness.

And it's not something that you are being pushed or forced into.

You are using your power,

You're owning your power of choice to decide to push and find your edge.

And so that is an important component to this practice is that it's yours and yours alone.

And it is all because of your power of choice.

And so I encourage you to embrace that.

I encourage you to notice that you are making choices every day,

Whether they're intentional or unintentional.

And the more we're on autopilot,

The less we are shaping our reality in accordance with our vision.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So all those unintentional choices,

No judgment,

No guilt,

No shame,

No energetic leaks here.

All of those unintentional choices are shaping your reality without your power behind them.

Because you're on autopilot,

You're not living awake.

And again,

No judgment,

No guilt,

No shame,

No energetic leaks.

Just noticing and realizing how much opportunity and potential is there when you make more choices owning your power with intentionality and especially when it's something you've never done before.

Pretty exciting.

So with that,

I'll offer one more musing.

And especially if this practice,

The practice of finding and pushing your edge really brings you some restlessness or some static or some dissonance or ego is really pushing back and saying,

No,

No,

Be small,

Be small,

Be small.

Don't do it.

Don't risk it.

It's important to recognize you're in the driver's seat.

It's all you.

It's absolutely all you.

It's only the intention.

It's only your own why that is there as that motivation.

So the moment you start to notice that you're disempowering yourself is exactly the moment I would love for you to pause,

Breathe,

Center,

Tune in,

And remember that the way you push your edge,

The way you find and push your edge is unique to you.

Your why is unique to you.

And it can be the most simple edge pushing.

It can be something that for other people is completely not an edge pushing experience.

And that's okay.

That's why it's so fantastic to personalize this practice,

To bring it into your heart because it's up to you what pushes your edge.

And it's up to you to decide to use your power of choice to shape your reality.

And it's up to you to persist or to tune in and notice that maybe you need to create some sustenance,

Bring in some pleasure to your life,

Bring in some encouragement from friends,

Whatever it is.

It's all on your own time and all when you feel as though you have the capacity and the reach and the motivation to make it happen.

So there are no shoulds here,

No external pressures all coming from inside,

All sourced from your intention to live awake and expand your consciousness.

I'd love to leave you with another poem.

This poem is called Prime.

And it always reminds me that everyone's wicked master plan is different and what an absolute blissful experience it is to tune in to what really turns you on and lights you up and then allow yourself the possibility of being limitless in that exploration.

So here it is.

Bend,

Pretend your youth will extend deep into time when you comprehend that your mind sublime smiles when you accept every day as your prime.

Seeking ecstasy elsewhere than where you are is precisely when all the pleasure fades for you again.

Stake your claim you selfish soul if living awake is indeed your goal.

Denying passion takes a toll that without a doubt leaves you less than whole.

Shine bright,

Grab all the stars you can.

Unleash that wicked master plan.

Have fun unleashing awesome ones.

Big love and rock on.
