Just take some time to let go of whatever your day has held before now.
And getting comfy wherever you are.
Perhaps close your eyes and take some time to allow your breathing to settle down to the most relaxed rate for you to rest easy now.
Focusing on each gentle breath in and out.
And out.
And just taking some time to notice how it feels as it enters and leaves the body.
That gentle rise and fall.
Breathing in deeply.
And breathing out completely.
And you could take a moment now to imagine what a feeling of sleepiness in your whole body might be like for you today.
As you connect with your breath.
And perhaps sink down a little more.
Into something of relaxation.
With each easy breath now.
Gently breathing in a sense of calm.
Almost as if you're drawing in from the air around you and breathing out any tension that you might be holding in your body or your mind.
Noticing with each breath in how you can absorb a little more calm and relaxation and with each breath out sinking down and letting go a little more each time.
And I wonder how it might be to imagine sinking down to the level of relaxation that's right for you right now.
Perhaps noticing how your body can begin to feel heavier and heavier the more it rests.
And with each breath,
Letting that feeling sink deeper and deeper down.
Perhaps into your shoulders and arms.
Perhaps around your chest,
Flowing around your shoulder blades and into all of the muscles of the back now.
All those muscles resting and releasing.
And I wonder how it would be if you were to notice that sleepily relaxing feeling rippling all the way down your spine,
Allowing the space between each vertebra to receive something of a deepening.
And letting go.
As you sink deeper too.
Your spine fully receiving that relaxing energy.
As in the background of your awareness now,
You continue to pay attention to letting everything go just enough.
To receive the gift of sleep.
Automatically.
The body knowing exactly what to do.
Naturally.
As it does with all those other natural processes.
The heart softly beating.
The breath gently breathing.
Your whole body.
Receiving.
Without having to really do anything at all now.
Except just rest.
And often people find that learning to sleep well throughout each night isn't a doing thing at all,
But simply a receiving thing.
As you are able to be still and calm now,
Sleep so naturally occurs.
The unconscious mind and body together,
Doing their good work of relaxing deeply now.
Almost like the layers you can drop through.
Sinking down with each naturally occurring breath to the next layer of sleep.
Restoring,
Refreshing,
Rejuvenating sleep.
Each and every night,
So much easier to achieve.
And each time your mind and body learning something more of how to simply and easily receive this gift.
And whilst you're here,
I wonder if you might imagine a beautiful colour of deeply relaxing and restorative sleep.
I wonder today what that might be for you.
Perhaps it's what you might imagine it to be.
Or perhaps it's a colour or energy that somehow is surprising to you.
More restful and nurturing than you might have imagined.
Calming and healing in some way.
Whatever it is,
This colour of pure,
Deep sleep that comes to you now,
That belongs to you always,
Is yours as a signal to your body and mind that you can rest even more deeply now.
Some people like to hold that colour close to them.
Even surrounding themselves with this experience.
Some people like to imagine that it is stillness itself.
That this colour contains a deeply calming and restful energy.
Or whatever it is that you need today,
So that tonight you will sleep so much more soundly than you might have thought possible.
That later,
Looking back on it,
You might find it reassuring that each night you always have this with you,
No matter what has occurred in your day.
So all I need to do for your mind and body to take from this listening,
Just what you need for you to be able to experience a deeply healing relationship to your ability to sleep soundly tonight,
Is to count from 1 to 5.
So that on the count of one,
Just allowing your mind to take a moment to absorb all the positive learning.
On two,
Taking a deep breath,
Storing all of that relaxation inside of your body and your mind.
On the count of three,
Feeling the weight of your heavy fingers and toes as they slowly return to normal now.
On four,
Feeling the weight of your eyelids as they also return to normal.
And on five,
Either opening your eyes and coming back to wherever you are in your day,
Or if it's time to sleep,
Drifting off peacefully until morning.
