Welcome to our meditation.
My name is Kim from Mindfulness Manor and I'd like to invite you to soften into rest as you prepare for our meditation and give yourself the gentle permission to let this day go.
Close your eyes and gently take a slow deep breath in and exhale feeling your body sink deeper into the surface beneath you.
Tonight we are going to meet a familiar voice,
Our inner critic,
But instead of pushing it away we'll soften around it and invite it to rest too.
Take another deep breath in and exhale slowly,
Letting your jaw relax,
Your shoulders melt and your breath find its natural rhythm.
Feel that the weight of your body is fully supported.
There's nothing more to do.
Nowhere to be.
Allow your breath to guide you deeper into relaxation.
Inhale and feel your belly rise.
Exhale and feel your body sink and with every breath,
Invite calm to wash over you like a gentle wave.
Let your body grow heavier and more grounded.
Now in this quiet space bring to mind the voice of your inner critic,
The one that may whisper doubts,
Judgments or not enoughs and simply notice where this voice lives in your body.
Perhaps it rests in your chest,
Your throat or your stomach and there's no need to engage with it or argue,
Just simply notice.
And tonight instead of resisting it,
Let's offer this voice a seat at the table.
Imagine this inner critic as a tired figure carrying the weight of old fears and outdated beliefs.
They are not here to harm you,
They just simply don't know how to rest.
And now in your mind's eye gently say,
I see you,
I hear you and I know you've been trying to protect me.
I see you,
I hear you and I know you've been trying to protect me.
Feel how this energy shifts when you approach this voice with kindness instead of resistance.
Tell this part of you,
It is to rest now,
We are okay,
I am okay.
It is safe to rest now,
We are okay,
I am okay.
And as you speak these words,
Notice how the figure at the table is softening.
Perhaps growing smaller,
Calmer and more at ease.
Together you both begin to relax deeper into the night.
And as you begin to relax,
You imagine a warm soothing light surrounding and embracing both of you.
This light dissolves all tension,
Dissolves fear and it invites rest.
Let this light gently dim the inner critic's voice,
Like turning down the volume on a radio,
Not quite silenced but softened.
You feel your entire being wrapped in comfort and acceptance,
As if every part of you,
Even the critical ones,
Are safe and safe to let go and drift into stillness.
Let your breath become slower,
Softer,
Like a gentle lullaby to your wisdom.
And as you surrender to sleep,
Know that you are held,
Know that you are whole and know that you are worthy,
Just as you are.
Rest deeply.
