The world can be so loud sometimes and feel so overwhelming.
Sometimes our bodies don't remember how to relax.
This exercise was designed.
To help your body remember.
So coming into a comfortable position.
One in which you can relax,
Either sitting or lying down.
Allow your shoulders to drop down.
Away from the ears as the shoulder blades melt down your back.
Release the jaw.
And relax all the muscles of the face.
Shutting down the eyes here gently letting go of the need to see to look outside.
And moving in now to the internal landscape.
Beginning to feel the air as it moves in on the inhale.
And as it goes out on the exhale.
And with each breath you begin to feel a wave of relaxation that spreads From the top of your head all the way down to your toes.
On the inhale you might say to yourself I am And on the exhale,
Relaxing.
Relax.
With each breath,
You become more and more relaxed.
As your muscles give up their homes.
Melt down into the surface beneath.
All your thoughts.
All your cares.
Easy.
Gently.
Bottom of relaxation.
And now you begin to imagine one of your favorite,
Most relaxing places.
Maybe it's somewhere out in nature.
Maybe it's a room somewhere inside.
Just let a place come to you.
A place where you feel safe.
And relaxed.
And let yourself be in this place.
With all your senses,
Using all your senses to be here.
All the things you can see in your favorite relaxing place.
Different colors shapes.
Taking it all in.
Beginning to notice.
The relaxing sounds that are in your place.
Things you can hear.
That help you feel even more calm.
And noticing how it feels to be in this place.
Maybe the temperature of the air.
How the ground feels beneath you.
Noticing any favorite smells.
Really letting yourself enjoy this rest.
In this place that is all your own.
Just for you.
And now placing your thumb and your pointer finger together on your dominant hand.
Touching the.
.
.
And pointer finger together.
This is your anchor.
To this special place,
This most relaxing place.
Anytime you bring your thumb and your finger together like this.
You'll be right back.
In this relaxing place.
It's here for you anytime you need or want to just take a break.
Come to this place of relaxation.
All you have to do is bring this thumb and finger together.
And you'll be back.
And now releasing the thumb and fingers.
And beginning to bring some attention back to the body.
And the feeling of the breath as it moves in and moves out.
And you might bring your attention to the area around your heart.
Maybe even placing a hand or both hands over your heart.
And just offering yourself.
A feeling of friendliness and warmth Beginning now to wiggle the toes and the fingers,
Maybe blinking open the eyes as you come back into the room.
I hope you enjoy this anchor.
I hope it's helpful for you.
And I hope you remember you're never alone.
Until next time.
