This meditation uses poetry to help us get through overwhelm by reminding us to slow down and stop rushing through life. The words in this meditation ground us in a big reminder: We only have one life - Let's slow down and live it. Music Credit: Pixabay Royalty Free Music - Relaxing Music Volume 1

Welcome,

This is Katerina Caselli,

Ex-FBI turned therapist and coach,

And today I want to guide you through a meditation around rushing,

Something that I think many of us can relate to.

Why do we keep rushing through life?

Well,

Before I dive in,

I just want to note that these meditations are generally written in a poetry format,

As this format has served me well in my own healing in the past,

And I hope it served you well today.

You see,

I spent most of my 20s being a classic high achiever,

Both fighting crime on the outside and fighting anxiety on the inside,

And when I reflected on the words of slowing down,

This poem called Stop Rushing Through Life came through.

So get comfortable in whatever way suits you best today.

Straighten your back if you are seated,

Or lay your hands on your belly or your heart if you are laying down.

Close your eyes or lower your gaze downward towards the floor.

Comfort is the biggest priority,

Not necessarily the position you are seated or laying down in.

Breathe in,

And then breathe out as you continue to settle in more and more.

Remember to let these words take on whatever meaning they need to take on in your life as it is right now.

So let's stop rushing through life.

I am sitting here,

Wanting and waning.

A shell,

I feel to heal,

Only propels me further away.

Grounded,

They say.

Surrender,

They say.

But who be they,

And what do I say?

I choose to run and not really exist,

While my soul craves,

Yearns,

For rest.

Yearns for rest.

The mind,

A constant projection,

Battle even of my weary soul.

My weary soul is tethered to this hope that I will let it rest and restore.

But yet I don't,

Can't even.

What is such a life?

One of endless battles and little triumphs.

One may not lose,

But surely one isn't winning.

I am lost,

I'd admit,

On what it means to win or lose.

Because even my wins feel like losses now.

What once was a prize,

The constant pursuit,

Now feels like a prison.

And to escape,

I can only hope,

Comes from those words,

Surrender,

Grounded.

But what if your ground has always been built off a faulty foundation?

What if your surrender has been conditioned in you to mean giving up?

As I frantically write,

Scribble these words,

I am,

As I am in life,

Rushing.

And I simply don't want to anymore.

Now,

Take another deep breath in,

And slowly exhale through your nose.

Let it all go.

And when you are ready,

You can open your eyes.

It may be helpful to journal on what came up for you through this practice today.

When I write these meditations,

I always approach it with this idea that it may be unconventional,

But I hope that it will make you unstoppable.

And I am unapologetic in that belief.

Journaling is just another way to solidify the words as they came across to you today.

I find that the more I journal,

The more I understand the world around me.

I find that my most powerful realizations come after a meditation session.

And when I say meditation,

Sometimes that means just being quiet with yourself for a little while.

Other times,

It means listening to words like the ones you heard today.

And remember,

You're not the same you that you were yesterday.

And that's pretty cool.

Again,

I am Katarina.

Thank you for spending time meditating with me today.

I hope you have an amazing day.
