Hello friend,

I hope you're in good health and all is well in your world.

This is the first recording of the Unwinding with Joseph series.

So the goal here is essentially to get you ready for bedtime,

Get ready to sleep.

You know,

And so I'll be encouraging you,

I'll be playing some music for you,

And then we'll wrap up with our goodbyes.

So if you're like most people,

You just kind of,

You know,

Go about your day,

Do whatever and work and work,

And when it's time to go to bed,

You just crash on the bed and you're ready to go.

Well,

There's actually a better way to get ready for bed.

You have to prepare.

You got to let your buddy know that,

Hey buddy,

We're wrapping up,

We're unwinding,

You know,

The day has come to an end and getting ready to sleep.

So get ready.

Okay,

Let's begin with the light sources in your room.

You know,

Maybe you open the blinds and all of that.

Well,

It's time to close them so that,

You know,

You reduce the amount of light that is coming into the room.

Maybe,

You know,

Time to pull the curtains back together.

No more coffee at this point if you want to sleep.

So,

And get rid of anything that's going to be a distraction.

You know,

Maybe this is the time to turn down the radio and relax,

Get yourself in a good place before you go to bed.

So,

And,

You know,

Maybe this is a good time to go put on the PJs.

You know,

Developing that kind of routine helps you sort of cements that in your system that every time you put on your PJs,

It's telling the body,

Okay,

We're getting ready for bed.

So let's do that.

All right,

Now that you've got that on,

Let's move on.

Now,

I don't know how your day went,

But I'm sure you gave it the best that you could.

And don't worry about how it went,

You know,

Not every day that things go as planned.

I mean,

We're not God,

We can't know how every day it's going to go.

What matters is you gave it your best today,

You know,

Based on the information you had,

You made choices based on that.

If it turned out that the choice you made or the choices you made today wasn't good,

It's all right,

There's no need to worry about that.

God willing,

And hopefully tomorrow you get another chance to make things better.

Now,

Worrying tonight,

It's not going to help you.

You don't want to be in your bed and worrying,

Okay,

Because your brain is going to associate the bedroom,

Your bed,

With worrying.

So anytime you're on your bed,

You're worrying,

You know,

I don't know if you've experienced this before,

But there are times that when you're sitting in your living room and watching a movie and you fall asleep,

And sometimes it's not for a long time,

But it feels so good.

It's like,

Man,

I got,

You know,

Really good sleep.

But then you come to your bedroom,

You can't sleep.

Why?

Because maybe that's where you do all your thinking.

You don't want to be thinking during bedtime.

You want to be sleeping.

So there's no need to worry.

And I'm going to read you something from,

You know,

Scripture.

I want to read something from Matthew chapter 6,

Verses 25.

Okay,

Going.

All right.

Wow.

Yes.

All you got to do is just listen.

You don't have to read along with me.

So it says,

Therefore,

I tell you,

Do not worry about your life,

What you eat or drink,

Or about your body,

What you will wear.

Is life not more than food and the body more than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air.

They do not sow or reap or store away in barns.

And yet your heavenly father feeds them.

Are you not much more valuable than they?

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

And why do you worry about clothes?

See how the flowers of the field grow.

They do not labor or spin.

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

If that's how God clothes the grass of the field,

Which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,

Will he not much more clothe you?

You of little faith.

So do not worry saying,

What shall we eat or what shall we drink or what shall we wear?

All right.

So clearly the passage is telling us not to worry because worrying doesn't do us any good.

So tonight I don't want you to worry.

I just want you to get ready,

Prepare your mind and get ready to go to bed.

All right.

Okay.

Now I've prepared a piece for you.

So just lay in bed.

Now maybe pull the blankets close and get ready.

Enjoy the music.

Hopefully by the time it's done,

You know,

You're almost gone.

If not,

We'll share good nights and we'll be ready to go.

Enjoy.

Enjoy.

I hope you enjoyed the music.

All right.

Well,

At this point I'm sure you're ready to go.

So let's say a good night prayers and get ready to go.

Lord,

I thank you for my friend and everything that you've brought my friend through.

Thank you for the gift of today that a friend was able to enjoy today,

No matter the circumstances surrounding today.

We thank you that it's come to an end and given as the gift of sleep,

Sleep,

Be able to rest the body,

The soul,

And mind.

Lord,

As my friend goes to bed,

I pray that you'll get rest,

Not just body,

Mind,

Soul,

And spirit.

Every part of the body would be fully rested.

Lord,

I pray for your blessings over my friend.

Pray for good health.

I pray that my friend would enjoy sleep and wake up tomorrow morning feeling refreshed and ready to go about their normal duties.

We ask all of this in Jesus' name.

Now,

Friend,

It's time to go to bed.

Have a good night and sleep tight.

Good night.

I loved this even though I am not Christian. Having Joseph speak to and play for me was a wonderful feeling. Such a beautiful soul!
