Right.
Let's say someone hands you a cactus.
It's sharp,
It's prickly.
You've got to handle it with real care,
Because if you don't,
You're going to get really,
Really hurt.
It's exactly the same with your triggers.
And even when someone insults you,
You're a highly sensitive person.
So you need to have the tools to be able to take care of yourself.
So someone hands you something that's sharp,
Dangerous.
It's going to hurt,
An insult,
Something painful.
Your own trigger ignites.
Well,
A cactus is sharp.
An insult is sharp.
Your own triggers are really,
Really sharp and they can burn you quicker than you realise.
So what do you do?
You stop and you take a deep breath.
You understand that it's not your cactus.
It's not your insult.
It's not your trigger.
It's just a trigger.
It's just an insult.
It's just a cactus.
It has nothing to do with you.
When you take it,
You've got to handle it with extreme care.
Hold it by the part that's going to do you the least amount of damage.
You take it.
You're aware of it.
But then you put it down.
You put it somewhere safe,
Somewhere where it's not going to hurt you or anyone else.
Because if it's your cactus,
If it's your insult,
If it's your trigger,
Then it's you that's going to get hurt.
And if it's somebody else's insult and somebody else's cactus,
They're going to get hurt,
Aren't they?
But what if it belongs to no one?
Then it just gets left to wither quietly on its own.
It doesn't grab a hold of you.
It doesn't grab a hold of anyone else.
You get hurt all the time because you believe in the cactus and you believe that it's yours.
Instead,
Let it pass right through you.
You hold on to what's yours.
You let go of what is not,
Don't you?
