Close your eyes and permit yourself to depend on the mind's eye,
On sensing and feeling.
The element of air holds you,
Envelops you beautifully from without and within.
It fills the space.
It fills your lungs.
It fortifies and nourishes your blood.
Let yourself soften and feel it.
You can feel the air.
You may not be able to see it,
But you can feel it.
Sense it with care as it enlivens the skin,
As it flows all around,
Effortless and light.
It is of substance,
But born out of incredible ease,
Uninterrupted cycles of gentle persuasion.
You can feel the ground.
The ground is hard,
Solid,
Concrete.
Let yourself become aware of everything that is not ground,
Of everything that is open.
Open yourself,
Your heart,
To lightness,
Softness.
Let yourself in a way succumb to it.
It is everywhere.
It takes up far more space than you.
It fills the atmosphere to the brim.
It is free.
It flows free,
Neither constrained nor confined.
Light,
Joyful and open.
Let your senses explore the air.
It is light,
Just as it has the capacity to carry light.
Dissolve the physical barrier between that and yourself.
Just dissolve it,
Like it was never there.
Simply permit yourself to feel that lightness on the inside.
Let the nervous system generate its own path to that,
Without control or correction.
Open to the lightness of the air within you.
Feeling its softness,
Its smooth,
Soothing motion.
The Persian poet Rumi wrote,
You were born with wings.
You are not meant for crawling,
So don't.
You have wings.
Learn to use them.
You are the lightness of the air.
You are the freedom that goes with that.
You are free-flowing and light.
There is no distance between you and the air that you breathe,
So fly gracefully through it.
Let it ripple around you.
Let it swirl and spiral around you.
If you were born with wings,
Then feel them.
Let them lift the light body,
A body of infinite lightness.
In the light there is freedom.
In freedom nestles joy.
In joy dances expansion,
As you expand in the light.
And your mind,
Dear friend,
Is none the wiser.
Thank you.
