Have you ever felt a quiet pull towards something more?
A version of yourself that you know is waiting to be expressed.
A dream you've been putting off.
A goal you've been afraid to fully commit to.
A part of yourself that knows there is more growth available.
But another part hesitates.
Maybe because it feels uncomfortable.
Maybe because it feels lonely.
Maybe because choosing yourself so deeply feels like you're leaving something or someone behind.
And sometimes we question ourselves.
Am I being selfish?
Am I becoming too focused on myself?
Am I closing myself off from love or connection?
But what if choosing yourself isn't an act of selfishness?
What if it's an act of devotion?
There are seasons in life where we are called to expand,
To build,
To focus,
To become.
And those seasons may require a different level of commitment than we're used to giving ourselves.
Sometimes we know exactly what we need to do.
We know the habits we need to create,
The work we need to complete,
The boundaries we need to honor.
The parts of ourselves we need to strengthen.
But instead of moving toward that growth,
We negotiate with ourselves.
We tell ourselves we'll start later,
When things are easier,
When we're less afraid,
When we have more certainty.
But growth rarely begins when everything feels comfortable.
Growth begins when we decide that becoming who we are meant to be is worth walking through the discomfort.
I think one of the biggest misunderstandings about focusing on yourself is that people assume it means rejecting others.
But there is a difference between isolation and intentional devotion.
Isolation comes from fear.
It says,
I don't need anyone.
I have to protect myself.
Connection is unsafe.
But intentional devotion sounds different.
It says,
I want to become someone who can show up fully.
I want to build a life I'm proud of.
I want to create a foundation that allows me to give from abundance instead of exhaustion.
There's nothing wrong with choosing a season of deeper focus.
Maybe right now your focus is your career,
Your healing,
Your creativity,
Your health,
Your personal growth.
Maybe there are things that require your full presence.
And honoring that doesn't mean you don't value relationships.
It simply means you're recognizing that every season has its purpose.
We often try to force ourselves to balance everything perfectly.
We want to pursue every dream,
Maintain every relationship,
Grow in every area,
Be available to everyone.
But sometimes balance does not mean giving everything equal energy at every moment.
Sometimes balance means recognizing what deserves your attention right now.
A tree does not bloom all year.
There are seasons of growth beneath the surface.
Seasons where roots are strengthening.
Seasons where preparation is happening before anything becomes visible.
And humans are the same.
Just because something isn't happening externally,
Doesn't mean nothing is happening internally.
Sometimes your greatest expansion is happening quietly.
The difficult part is trusting that.
Because when you choose yourself,
There may be moments where you feel uncertain.
You may wonder if you're missing out.
You may wonder if you're making the right choice.
You may compare your journey to someone else's timeline.
But your path was never meant to look exactly like someone else's.
Your life is asking for your alignment,
Not your imitation.
And sometimes alignment requires saying,
Not right now.
Not because something is bad,
Not because you are incapable of having multiple beautiful things,
But because you understand that your energy is valuable.
Where you place your energy shapes what you create.
The question isn't,
How can I avoid missing out?
The deeper question is,
What am I willing to commit to creating?
Because becoming your highest self requires participation.
It requires showing up for yourself in the moments where no one else is watching.
It requires choosing the habits,
Environments,
And decisions that support who you are becoming,
Not only who you've been.
And the beautiful thing is,
Choosing yourself does not mean you will be alone forever.
In fact,
Often the opposite happens.
When you become more aligned with yourself,
Of recognizing what is aligned with you.
You stop chasing things that require you to abandon yourself.
You stop settling for things that ask you to shrink.
You create space for opportunities,
Relationships,
And experiences that meet you where you are.
So if there is a part of you that has been calling you forward,
Listen.
If there is something you've been putting off because you're afraid of the uncertainty,
Take the first step.
You don't have to know every detail.
You don't have to have the entire path mapped out.
You simply have to trust that honoring yourself is not the same thing as rejecting the world around you.
Sometimes the greatest gift you can give yourself and others is becoming the person you know you're capable of becoming.
Because when you choose yourself from a place of love,
You don't become closed-hearted,
You become more whole.
Thank you for spending this time with me today.
May you have the courage to honor the season you're in,
Trust your own path,
And continue becoming the person your future self is waiting to meet.
Namaste.
