You've likely been in your head all day.
Rushing.
Thinking.
Managing.
Producing.
And somewhere in all of that.
Without you even noticing you left the body behind.
The mind probably took over.
And the body became something you carried around rather than something you actually live in.
So this evening,
We're coming back to it.
Not through effort.
Not through doing anything at all.
We'll do this through pleasure.
Through the simple and yet completely extraordinary experience of feeling what it is to be alive in a body.
To inhabit the senses fully.
To let sensation become so interesting that the thinking mind simply dissolves.
It's not being pushed away.
Just gently outpace for something far more alive.
This is what we forget in the rushing.
That pleasure isn't something we have to seek or earn or find somewhere outside of ourselves.
It lives here.
In the warmth of the skin.
In the movement of breath.
In the quiet ordinariness of being alive.
So lie down.
And let your body be completely supported.
Let the arms be soft by the sides.
Palms open.
And eyes gently closed.
And just feel yourself arriving here.
Feel the evening settling around you.
The quality of the light.
The hush of the evening.
That particular softness that comes when the day finally releases its hold.
And the body.
Feel how it responds to this sensation.
The weight of it sinking.
The back of the body melting like warm honey into what holds it.
The shoulders releasing tensions they've been holding since this morning.
The hands uncurling.
Opening.
And soft.
The whole body sighing.
Releasing.
And feel the warmth of yourself.
Your own warmth.
Present and quiet and completely yours.
As if you're glowing softly in the dark.
Now take a breath in,
Slower than you think.
Letting it move through you silky and warm.
And then exhaling long and slow.
Inhaling into the belly.
Into the ribs all the way to the edges of yourself.
And then exhaling,
Releasing.
And just feel how good that feels to breathe like this.
Again inhaling slow and sweet,
The body drinking the breath in and savoring it.
And then exhaling everything the day poured into you,
Leaving now.
One more inhale.
Feel the chest lift.
The ribs flowing open.
And then exhaling all the way until there's only stillness.
Let the breath find its own rhythm now.
Let it be relaxed and completely free.
Like the body is finally breathing the way it actually wants to.
Now feel the skin.
The entire surface of it.
Not as a boundary.
As a living landscape of sensation.
Feel the air moving over it cool where it's uncovered.
Warm where it rests against the surface beneath you.
The place where the palms of the hand meet the air.
Feel that.
And now the inner wrists.
This extraordinarily sensitive part of you.
The skin as soft as silk.
And now the face.
The cheekbones.
The lips.
The soft skin of the temples.
All of it's awake.
All of it feeling.
So familiar this skin of yours.
So entirely your own.
And right now it's alive with sensation.
And let yourself really feel that.
And now,
Let your attention drop beneath the skin.
Into the warmth of the body itself.
That deep,
Steady warmth that has nothing to do with the day you've had or the thoughts in your head.
It's simply here.
Feel the belly warm and soft.
Rising and falling.
In the chest,
Spilling open now.
Unhurried and free.
The whole torso.
Glowing with its own quiet heat.
And just sense how that feels.
Warmth spreading through the entire body.
And now we'll go a bit deeper.
Into the hands.
Feel the pulse there.
That quiet steady beating.
Your own heart present in your fingertips.
Feel it in the palms.
In the wrists.
In the soft hollow of the throat.
The whole body humming in perfect motion.
Steady and alive.
And entirely its own.
This has been here all day.
Underneath all the rushing,
All the noise,
And all the doing.
There's this steady,
Luminous aliveness within.
And now let yourself feel how good this is.
Not as an idea.
As a sensation.
The warmth of the body.
The silky movement of breath.
The pulse alive in the hands.
The skin awake and feeling.
Let all of it in.
The sounds of the evening around you,
Whatever they are.
The quality of the air on your face.
The weight and warmth of your own body resting completely.
This is pleasure.
It's not something grand or unreachable.
It's the extraordinary ordinariness of being here.
Feeling this.
Being alive.
Let yourself delight in this.
The way the breath moves like sweetness through the body.
The way warmth spreads,
Slow like honey wherever you place your attention.
The way the body,
When finally met with this quality of presence,
Begins to open.
Like a flower that's been waiting for the light to return.
Feel that opening.
In the chest.
In the belly.
In the hands.
Warm and open and receiving.
Let yourself receive this.
The warmth.
The aliveness.
The delight of being here.
There's nothing indulgent about this.
This is what you were made for.
To feel.
To be present.
To inhabit this life.
This body fully.
Stay here.
Let the sensations deepen.
And let the body remember what pleasure feels like.
There's nowhere to be but here.
And nothing to do but feel.
And notice what's here for you now.
The body's been waiting to show you.
It never forgot,
Even when you did.
It always held pleasure here.
In the warm.
In the pulse.
In the breath.
Just waiting for you to slow down enough to find it.
This essential aliveness.
It's not something exotic or something you have to travel to find.
It's just this.
The body.
Warm,
Breathing,
And glowing.
And alive.
Take one last long breath in.
Let it be full,
Slow,
And sweet.
And then let it go all the way like the last light of the evening.
And carry this into the rest of your night.
The warm.
The aliveness.
The quiet delight of being here.
It doesn't end when you open your eyes.
It lives in every breath.
Every sensation.
And every moment you choose to feel rather than rush.
And when you're ready,
Let the eyes open slowly.
And come up to a comfortable seat.
Welcome back.
And welcome home.
To the body that held your pleasure all along.
Sending you all the love.
