Hello,
Thank you for joining me for today's morning meditation addressing burnout.
Today's meditation will help us notice when we're starting to get burnout or overwhelmed with life.
So when you're ready,
Find yourself in a comfortable position.
Close your eyes,
Sitting upright in a chair,
Feet flat on the floor or lying down,
Making yourself comfortable,
Relaxed and bringing awareness to your breath.
Exhaling all your breath out.
Inhaling deeply through the nose,
Feeling your chest rise,
Stomach expand.
And then exhaling slowly and completely,
Letting it all go,
Feeling your muscles soften,
Any tension released.
Let's do a few more.
Inhale deeply,
Sipping in the air,
Feeling the cool air coming in through the nostrils,
Inhaling up the lungs on all sides,
And then exhaling completely.
One more time together,
Inhaling deeply and exhaling completely.
Breathing naturally for yourself,
Allowing your face to soften,
Creating space in the mouth and the jaw,
Your cheeks and your ears,
Loose,
Relaxed,
Feeling a wave of relaxation wash over your neck,
Shoulders,
Spine.
Allow your stomach muscles to be heavy,
Releasing any tension or any contraction,
Just letting your belly hang,
Releasing the muscles in your legs,
Thighs,
Hamstrings,
Calves,
And willingly allowing your hands to uncurl,
Your feet to unclench,
And feeling yourself relaxed and soft.
Bring your awareness to your heart space and just notice for a moment when you think about the word burnout and what it means to you and where you are in your life right now,
Whether it's overwhelmed with family,
Friends,
Work,
School,
Just noticing how you feel in your chest,
Allowing kindness to wash over you,
And for a moment let's visualize ourselves with a big heavy backpack on.
All of our worries and stressors are in there,
Deadlines,
Tasks to do,
Chores,
Taking care of family members,
Maybe even more pressing things like court dates,
Life events that are heavy on your heart,
Maybe you're about to move or change jobs,
Whatever it is,
Notice this backpack,
Notice how large it is,
Feel it weighing down on your body,
And as you take a deep breath in,
Use all your strength to take one of the straps of the backpack off and then the other and place it gently on the side of you,
Feel a wave of relief as you remove the stress,
The anxiety,
Everything that leads to burnout,
Feel your body light as a feather,
A whole hundred pounds lighter,
Feeling the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders,
Bring your awareness back to your heart space,
Feel it with love and kindness,
Loving compassion for yourself,
Knowing that you've carried a heavy load,
And knowing that you're able to remove it,
Breathing,
Relaxing,
Noticing if anything is tensed up,
Allowing everything to soften,
And in your mind's eye,
Look at the bag that you've taken off your body,
Your backpack is on the side of you,
And gently open it,
Notice what's inside,
Feel free to prioritize,
Reorganize the contents,
Maybe even removing some of the things you can't control,
We all know there are things in life that we cannot control,
What we do have power over however is how we react to it,
So look at these situations with kindness,
And as you're removing the heavy load from your backpack,
Notice what you can control and what you cannot,
Breathing and settling,
Taking deep breaths,
Knowing you'll be restored with more motivation after the session,
Breathing deeply,
As you've removed everything from your backpack,
Feel free to put back in what you can carry,
Leaving out everything out of your control,
Knowing that it will be resolved in its own time,
So gently placing things back in the backpack,
Knowing you'll be able to carry this load,
You are only given what you can handle,
And you can choose to respond in the way that you want,
To actions or situations out of your control,
So as you repack the load,
Leaving some items out,
Visualize the earth absorbing the things you can't control,
Turning it into other energy of a useful purpose,
And now as your load is lighter,
Your backpack is not so heavy,
And everything else has dissolved into the earth,
Putting the backpack on,
Feeling the lightness of it,
Knowing you can handle anything,
Knowing you can counteract burnout by self-care practices,
Visualizations,
Deep breathing,
Relaxing the body and the tension in the mind,
Visualize yourself safe,
Maybe even with a smile on your face,
Knowing you can go ahead,
Move forward and handle anything life throws your way,
Bring your awareness back to your body,
With your next deep inhale,
Allow a wave of relaxation to wash over you like a mini massage,
Exhaling out all the residual stress or anxiety,
Worries,
Troubles,
Letting it exit your body with the breath,
Breathing naturally for yourself,
Wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Open your eyes,
Set an intention for the day,
What do you want your day to be like?
When you have your intention,
Breathe deeply,
Allow your intention to seep into every cell in your body,
And as you look around your room,
See it with new light,
Hope purpose,
Feel the lightness of you losing pounds of stress in that visualization,
Feel light and airy,
Able to conquer the world.
Thank you so much for allowing me the precious gift of your time,
Until next time.
