Hello,
My name is Hilary Lafon and I'm so grateful that you joined me today to explore a heart meditation with our best furry friends.
A lot of us have pets,
Cats,
Dogs,
Hamsters,
Birds,
Things that really enrich our lives and make our everyday world better.
And one thing that is wonderful to do is to enjoy your time with your animal and focus on the physical feelings inside your body when you have them around you.
So that if you're in a time of stress or need,
Maybe you're at work or in the car driving,
You can think about a moment with your furry pet and it helps bring you right back to that moment where you're relaxed and calm.
So let's try that today.
So I encourage you to pick up your animal and sometimes it's best to do it when they're sleeping so that they're not fidgeting and trying to get away from you.
So if you can pick up your kitty cat or your puppy and put them in your lap when they're sleeping,
They'll already be relaxed and you can sit in your bed,
On a chair,
On the floor and just hold them in your arms.
And just for a moment,
Let's connect with our breath,
Inhaling deeply and completely,
Closing our eyes as we exhale and settle in and just connect with our animal.
Take a few more deep inhales and exhales on your own,
Feeling yourself soften and relax already just having the warmth of them on your body.
One more breath in and out.
And as you breathe to your natural rhythm,
Let's start with the sensation of touch and feeling.
Maybe pet your animal from the head,
The back and just breathe softly,
Noticing how you feel in your heart center.
What do you feel when you feel connected,
Loved,
Close to the one you love?
And let this feeling wash over you.
Maybe a small smile creeps up on your lips.
Just enjoy this moment,
Connecting with your animal,
Your favorite pet and letting these great feelings just wash over you,
Permeate every cell in your body.
Breathing in and out,
Fill your heart,
Expand with love and peace and relaxation.
Feeling the fur,
The skin,
The warmth,
Maybe you can even feel a heartbeat.
Nuzzle in,
Relax,
Allow all your muscles to soften,
Allow your neck to relax,
Your spine,
Where you're sitting in the chair or laying down,
Feel connected and rooted to your friend.
Maybe visualize a ball of energy around you,
Glowing,
Warmth,
Comfortable.
Allow these feelings to wash over you.
As you gently pet your furry friend,
If you'd like to open your eyes and stare down at your pet,
Just noticing the colors,
Maybe you can see their eyes,
Smile at them,
Have them smile at you.
Just breathe and connect,
Let this heart meditation,
This breathing from our heart space,
This connecting with the loved one,
Let this just wash over you.
Feeling a memory,
Allowing yourself to relax and enjoy this moment when you're ready.
Thank your pet for sitting there with you,
Maybe give them a kiss or a cuddle and when you're ready,
Feel free to let them go and just know that you can come back to this memory,
This thought,
Any time of the day and allowing your body to feel these sensations,
Your heart to be open can help with stress management,
Can help right before sleep,
It helps with pain management and it helps deepen your connection with your animal or your family and friends.
