Earthing | Drum & Didgeridoo | Therapeutic Sound Series
by Marcus Fung
Welcome to my music composition playlist "Therapeutic Sound Series". It is intended to be an introduction, and informative series to well-loved classic, contemporary, and traditional sounds and instruments that have been adopted into the field of sound therapy and sound healing. The didgeridoo is an instrument that comes from the indigenous peoples of Australia, from over 1,000 years ago. It is a sacred instrument where players use a type of breathing called circular breathing to generate a nonstop flow of breath required to generate the sound. The instrument is played to enter into a trance to enter into the place which is called the "Dreamtime". In the Yolŋu languages of the indigenous people of northeast Arnhem Land, the name for the instrument is the yiḏaki, or more recently by some, mandapul. In the Bininj Kunwok language of West Arnhem Land, it is known as mako. In this track, the didgeridoo is played non-traditionally with a drum along with the sounds of my circular breathing.
