Welcome to Stories of Courage,
I'm Helen Chung.
Pain My Friend The gentle creases of her face speak of a journey where pain is masked by a facade of smiles,
Laughter and denial.
But her canvas within was painted with the broadest strokes of the blackest black,
The bloodiest red and the purest white.
Pain believed he was her friend,
So he shadowed her throughout her life.
The stubborn bastard thought he'd take her on again,
Hungry to claim the beauty for his own.
But he knew he was in for a fight,
For this phoenix had risen from the ashes countless times.
But this didn't deter him,
He lunged aggressively,
Willing himself to conquer this bout.
But her strength,
Her power,
Her courage proved yet again too fierce.
Pain receded shamefully into his shadowy corner.
But he was startled by a flashing light that shone on his dark,
Empty face.
It was her,
Her soul reached out,
Pulling him gently out of the darkness and into the light.
She embraced him with gratitude,
She said,
I thank you,
I forgive you,
You have been my greatest teacher.
I see you now.
